Genki Wear Pon Farr, Tiberius & Red Shirt ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 15 April 2009 80 Comments

Star Trek Pon Farr perfume for womenGenki Wear will introduce the first three in a projected series of Star Trek fragrances next month in conjunction with the release of the upcoming Star Trek film.

Pon Farr (shown at right) ~ for women, launching under the tag line "Drive him crazy", and referring to the Vulcan mating cycle.

Because having is not alway so pleasing a thing as wanting. Pon Farr perfume for women is a refreshing fragrance that is both invigorating and dramatic with light, clean notes of citrus, blackcurrant, lotus blossom and water lily. And with base notes from sandalwood, peach and mulberry, Pon Farr is perfect for those bright sunny days and warm summer nights spent together at the beach, around the fire or simply watching your favorite affaire d'honneur. Sharp and aggressive, simple yet exotic.

Tiberius ~ for men, launching under the tag line "Boldly go". Tiberius is a an homage to Captain James "Tiberius" Kirk...

...the most famous and highly decorated starship captain in Starfleet history. Tiberius Cologne for men is a casual yet commanding cologne spiked with freshness and sensuality. Citron, black pepper, and cedar create refreshingly clear top notes, layered over warm vanilla, white musk and sandalwood base notes. Tiberius Cologne for men is difficult to define and impossible to refuse in any universe. Take Tiberius on your next mission and be transported to new worlds of sensual discovery.

Red Shirt ~ also for men; the tag line is "Because tomorrow may never come". Red Shirt is...

...for the young, modern man of the galaxy who doesn't hesitate; who revels in being alive today. Red Shirt Cologne instills confidence, showing the universe your strength, your valor, your devotion to living each day as though it could be your last. Bright, clean and direct with top notes of green mandarin, bergamot and a hint of lavender, Red Shirt finishes strong with base notes of leather and grey musk. It's a daring men's fragrance for those brave enough to place no trust in tomorrow.

Star Trek Tiberius and Red Shirt fragrances for men

Genki Wear Star Trek Pon Farr is 50 ml for $29.99; Tiberius and Red Shirt are 100 ml for $29.99. All three can be pre-ordered now at Entertainment Earth. (via press release)

Totally agree…the smell is besides the point. But as a long time TNG & Voyager fan, I hope future scents will move on to the later series! Still say a Jean Luc Picard fragrance would sell better than anything else they could possibly come up with. Tag line, obviously, “make it so”.

Don’t get us started coming up with tag lines for all the possibilities!

Yes on Jean Luc and Scottie! And Janeway would need something like a classic floral with a coffee note for her tagline- “Coffee, Black”. And Q would need something really strong, persistant, and annoying like Angel.

ohmigosh yes….like Q Addict or Poison Q —but it would have to be a fragrance that you couldn’t scrub off no matter how hard you tried and it just keeps reasserting itself…

Captain Picard’s fragrance would have bergamot in the topnotes naturally. And leather in the base….and it’d be slighty herbaceous?

Then you could do a women’s perfume called Kamala–the Perfect Mate. The perfume should adapt itself to the chemistry of the wearer. . . ..

There was a TNG episode where in this race of people a very rare number of women are born whose personality will change entirely to suit her mate. One of these women, named Kamala, is being given as a gift in marriage to a politician to help secure peace, and she was being smuggled on the Enterprise.

When the crew finds her they eventually understand and continue to take her to her arranged marriage with her consent, but she and Jean Luc fall in love and she becomes irrevocably set to suit Jean Luc- a sophisticated and intelligent woman fond of Shakespeare. Out of duty she still marries the politician, who was more fond of his work than her anyway- so she figures he won’t know the difference.

Sadly, there’s a Kamala perfume already, by Mark. I’m pretty sure it’s put out by Avon. It’s not very nice but I have a friend who swears by it.

LOLOLOL —Trekkie scents!! Holy Cow, I almost fell out of my chair! At first I thought it might be a joke….especially the Red Shirt!!! I guess this is for real? well, then I wouldn’t expect the Red Shirt to last more than an hour—none of the red shirted fellows did!

    Sadly — I understood each reference….latent trekkie-ism exposed!

Not a month ago I was explaining to my kids that every time you see a new face atop a red shirt, the character’s not going to make it ten minutes into the program.

          “He’s dead, Jim!”

In our house, we call it “Expendable Ensign Syndrome.” That red shirt is the main symptom; other symptoms include extreme enthusiasm, naivieté or sincerity from a previously unfamiliar character.

We still use that expression over here, too.

The Red Shirt fragrance really does show a great sense of humor. It’s up there with Sex Panther and BK Flame.

Although I do wonder whether it’s the best marketing strategy. Nobody wants to be wearing that Red Shirt. . . .

For a life long sci-fi nerd and recent perfumista this is totally awesome. But why no skanky musk in Pon Farr? They all sound a little boring, but still wearable. And although Pon Farr is a fruity floral sans skanky musk I still think I have to have it, so I can tell my friends what I’m wearing. But I’ll have to layer some musk.

Oh my gosh, it is sooo refreshing when perfume doesn’t take itself seriously! These ones and the Burger King scent might well smell god-awful, but I love them just for boldly going where no pretentious ad copy has gone before. (Did anyone here ever smell the BK one, by the way?) And while I wouldn’t call myself a Trekkie by any stretch, I had such a childhood crush on Mr. Spock…

You know, the series that showcases a super-secret Special Operations unit that only reports to one colonel and no one else-Cordite, Gunpowder, iron-oxide metallic notes, all mixed with some chypre- could get interesting!

Well, I guess it had to happen sometime. And I’m surprised it didn’t happen a lot sooner! If Burger King can have it’s own fragrance, why not Star Trek? I definitely think Kirk, Jean-Luc, and Spock should each have a fragrance showcasing a different aspect of masculines.

“Pon Farr” hardly seems formulated to drive anyone crazy, as it sounds like a typical light fruity-floral. And is “Red Shirt” a joke on their part? I’d be afraid to wear it – like sticking a target on your back during hunting season.

Oh, these are brilliant! The ‘Red Shirt’ made me sneeze coffee. I guess it ought to smell so bad it makes every life-form you come into contact with want to kill you? They should make a ‘Uhura’, with the tagline ‘Get onto his hailing frequency…’. But I liked Voyager best of all. I’d snap up a Janeway scent, or even a Kes (was that her name, the girl who was supposed to live only six years?).

Heard a rumor that they are certainly thinking about it- hope they do! I really liked all of them! I always thought of Uhura’s scent as being wonderfully heavy and rich- lots of Rose, Jasmine, Chocolate, Vanilla, Cardomom, with a Lapsang Oolong tea base, along with a nice Benzoin. And Spock- well, being so logical, it is only logical that he have a clear, crisp mint/chypre, with a touch of veviter, fir balsam, cedar, and just a bit of lemon-lime bay rum, for that touch of surprise he could produce, at the most unexpected moments! Capt Kirk? Oh, Brut, of course! And Picard? Well, now, I must say, I always have him mighty attractive, indeed! How about something like Old Spice mixed with Bulgari’s Black? Highly intellectual, with a sardonic twist, and yet, a zestful sense of humor. Janeway? Yes, something with lots of coffee in it, along with some jasmine and lavender. What do you all think?

Actually, I rather liked Seven of Nine- there was something appealing about her character in an almost innocent child-like way. I think she should have her very own scent, called, of course, Seven of Nine, and it would be a curious blend of Rose, Jasmine, Hyacinth, Gardenia, Melissa, Tuberose (yes, lots of floral) along with Anise, Strawberry, Lemon, Amber, Grass, Rosewood, Cedar and Oakmoss.
As for the Borg, let’s call their (it’s?) scent, simply, Cube. Let’s put in it something rather bland and yet attractively menacing; this would be the scent you would wear when you go shopping for a used car and you don’t want a bunch of pressure from the used car salesmen-instead, you want to pressure them into accepting your price! Yes, resistance is futile! Let’s make it smell vaguely like bug repellant mixed with cotton candy, with a bunch of aggressive musk, along with Rose and Pepper. What do you all think?

For Me…. Seven Of Nine would be more Aggressively Sexy, Almost Androgynous, as she was quite Brusque and Forceful… I am smelling…. Tuberose to be sure, but Cypress, Juniper, Blond Cedar, Baby Patchouli Leaves, Pamplemousse Blanc, Haitian Vetiver, Perhpas something more Floral like Fangipani and Red Plumeria… then give it a real Fougere/Chypre finish with Bay Laurel, Sagemoss, Oakmoss and Tunisian Lemon! you like?

when The Next Generation first came out—we refused to watch it in protest….after a couple seasons we broke down and started watching. Then had to play catch up with the first seasons in syndication. Ended up actually liking TNG more as a whole….but you can’t beat the original for camp, great one liner tag phrases and general snickering/head shaking. When things gets confusing I’ve been known to mutter: ” I’m just a simple country doctor…..” or in situations to stupid to believe “beam me up Scottie” and the list goes on…

I loved “Wrath of Khan.” (blush)

In fact, there’s a line from WoK that I like to quote in connection with my youngest kid: Kirk is explaining how he beat the no-win training scenario by reprogramming the test so that it was possible to win (he cheated). “I don’t like to lose.” That’s my boy all over.

Oh no, not a ubiquitous fruity floral Borg scent named Seven. Voyager was always my favorite, and Seven my favorite character. Seven of Nine should be heavenly white florals tinged with metallic violets. Like A La Nuit or Amoureuse with a touch of Dans tes Bras.

Star Trek merch has traveled to odd frontiers before like energy drinks. About 10 years ago I was in Germany and I saw something called “Warp 4”. Also Heineken had Spock in its ads in the late 60’s after the show was off the air.

Go Data! Although it would have to smell like machine parts, I guess.

I did. They were not masterpieces, so unless you wanted them for the names/bottles I don’t think they are worth looking for.
