One weekend about 15 years ago, Chicago neurologist Alan Hirsch pumped a pleasant smell into a section of the casino floor of the Las Vegas Hilton and compared the amount gambled there to an area scented differently and to an area with no particular smell.
He also compared bets placed with the weekend before and the weekend after.
Gamblers spent 45 percent more money in the area with a pleasant smell.

I'm not a gambler but I can tell you this ~~ the wafting of pleasant smells make perfumistas spend loads more money too! No casino needed.
Although it can work both ways…there are stores I hate to go in because they're so overscented.
Absolutely! There are also stores that I won't go in because they play music so darned loud.
You mean they found a scent that could overpower the smell of cigarette smoke? It makes sense that folks would stay if there was a non-offensive scent though. But I don't think I'm the “average” gambler.
Once my 10 dollar roll of quarters is gone, so am I! Hubby live the lifestyle of the poor and unknown. 🙂

Last I was in Vegas, all the casinos were clearly pumping in scent, and no, it did not cover up the smoke. Better than nothing though!
Is it really true that smoking is allowed indoors in Las Vegas? We haven't had smoking in public places in Canada in years and years. That would totally turn me off a visit to Vegas, even if I were otherwise inclined to go. . .Say it isn't so!
Most of the casinos have set aside smoking & non-smoking areas, but you can really tell the difference in the newer hotels, which just have better air filtration systems. The older casinos really stink, even if you're in a no smoking area. I don't remember seeing smoking in restaurants, so perhaps the rules are different for casinos & restaurants? I haven't been for a few years so perhaps rules have changed.
I was there on business a few years ago, and at that time smoking was still allowed. Smoking is an instant headache for me…
headache, a little nausea thrown in for fun….all around nastiness that cigarette smoke! I can't go anywhere that smoking is the norm. Just can't stand it.

scent twins sharing brainwaves…..I had to scroll up to see what you were talking about….Because I had read it originally as 'hubby and I ' . Reminds me of an email that was circulating a while ago where many words were spelled wrong or had missing letters, prepositions left completely out, but your brain “reads” the words and entire sentences correctly anyhow.
