Paulina Rubio Oro ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 10 March 2009 17 Comments

Oro by Paulina Rubio fragranceMexican pop star Paulina Rubio (aka La Chica Dorada or The Golden Girl) will launch her debut fragrance, Oro, this month:

This fragrance is for women like me who believe in themselves; are strong, fun and unpredictable, yet tender and loving. I put so much creativity and love into this fragrance, I feel as if a drop of me is in each and every bottle to be shared with my fans and all women.

The scent is described as "an elegant floral oriental", and features notes of sparkling citrus, espresso bean, peppered florals and vanilla.

Paulina Rubio Oro will be available in 30 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (via juanesweb)

What no tequila or cocaine notes? Sorry. Actually, I quite like Paulina Rubio's music (and I don't even speak Spanish!) and I like her bombastic style. Something I miss from the 80s music and fashion. I had no idea she was known as the “Golden Girl”. That's hilarious, because I've always associated here with the living, breathing version of “Goldie Gold” a cartoon I used to love from the early 80s. Here's a link in case you're unfamiliar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjApXpxjsOk&feature=PlayList&p=7187AE8F5C4C4C40&index=0&playnext=1
The fragrance sounds unbelievably boring, though. I wonder if it will make it to the American market? I don't know many people in the Midwest who know who she is.

As is usual, I've never heard of her. Will check out the link, thanks!

It will be distributed in the US, but no idea how widely.

The name rings a bell; I think she sang 'Never Say Goodbye' or something like that…

I like the scent notes – I think I'd really like this.

Lol – I should actually include a link to one of her videos. Here's the reason for the “tequila note” reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6DlgF8jONo

I also read that she was fairly recently busted for cocaine possession. Quite the party girl. Oh, a bit late for the warning, I guess, but all of her videos are kinda racy. Just didn't want to get in trouble for linking to corrupting material. 😛

I do like coffee-scented fragrances, but with the few notes listed I'm afraid it's just going to be another boring floriental.

Ditto. If there's lots of coffee, that might save it.

her single “Don't Say Goodbye” came out in 2002, when I watched TRL everyday
I think that was her only US hit
my friend Pato says no one in Mexico likes her, but I'm pretty she's actually really successful in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
I think Nicole Scherzinger should come out with a perfume!!!!

Here in Argentina she is quite well known.

She was part of a teenage band in mexico known as timbiriche in the 80's (that also featured Thalia).

Her songs are ok, sometimes she gets songs penned by great latin american songwriters, and collaborates with others.

The style is tacky, as in “I threw my whole wardrobe of designer logo clothes and shiny accesories over me, and no item measures over 10 square inches”

She married a spaniard who is very bad looking, but rich, and she lives in Barcelona in an apartment overlooking the city that is mind bogglingly beautiful.

If I come across as a gossip-loving, envious little twerp… well, I guess I am in this case! 🙂 Ohh, the easy life…such a tempting dream!

I doubt I'll ever get to try the frag, or that it would sell much here in argentina (where she is considered fun, but high-profile tacky)

    Cheers! 😀

I think Pato was referring just to himself and pretending that he speaks for all of Mexico.

He lived in Monterrey until 2 years ago

If she's “fun but high profile tacky” I would think her scent would sell very well indeed…works for many celebrities!

You know, I always wondered if I would like someone like Britney Spears better if I wasn't so innundated with info/gossip about her 24/7. I don't really know much about Paulina except what I've seen of her videos and performances…Though I did see her spectacular home on Mtv's “Cribs”. *drool*

Nah, come to think of it, I couldn't stand Britney's music the moment I heard that nasally voice. (She always sounds like she's got a bad sinus cold to me. :P)

Lol! Actually most of the Mexicans I know around here are from the Monterrey region. When I mentioned I liked Paulina Rubio's music, the guys kind of looked askance at me and said they really like Shakira. Which I think is kind of admiarable because Shakira is definitely a bit more, er, wholesome – for lack of a better word. 😛 (I like her as well, incidentally.)

Anyone who comments on this page is surely a fan of this latina singer but please comment on the perfume of the singer not the singer herself. Give a review for Oro the perfume of Paulina Rubio. What can you say about the perfume.
