Scientists in Italy have found bacteria in the root of a tropical grass whose oils have been used in the cosmetic and perfumery industries. These bacteria seem to promote the production of essential oils, but also they change the molecular structure of the oil, giving it different flavours and properties: termicidal, insecticidal, antimicrobial and antioxidant.

I'm currently a college student that loves to have some sort of scent on me from morning to night. I can't say I've been properly-versed in the wonderful world of perfumery; my knowledge basically includes years and years of walking up and down department store and Sephora perfume aisles going, “This I like,” “This is yuck.”.

Asya says her style is classic and feminine, “more Jackie than Marilyn”, with a bit of tousled beach style thrown in. Asya wants to find a more interesting scent than what she has now. Her perfect perfume would be noticeable but not too strong, young but classic, and easy to find…

Lately, I’ve been experiencing some stress in my life beyond Now Smell This. It’s just deadline-related tension, and it will all be resolved for better or for worse within another month or two, but in the meantime, I’m feeling all tied up in knots. This seemed like the perfect time for me to test the calming benefits of two lavender-fragranced body products.
