Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2008, part 4

More limited edition collector fragrance bottles, with the usual disclaimers: in most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is “special” (or not, as the case may be), and some of these may not be available in the US.

At Nordstrom, Prada Homme (above left) in a limited edition silver metallic bottle, “for customers who are demanding even more unique versions of the core Prada Parfums products”. $57 for 75 ml…

Byredo ~ new fragrances

Byredo Rose Noir perfumeByredo is a Stockholm-based niche line that has introduced five new personal fragrances this year (previously, they were known for their scented candles). The range was recently added to the mix at London's Les Senteurs:

Rose Noir (shown) ~ “…uses Damascus roses laced with animalic notes, musk sand bitter citrus notes. The fresh, crisp, bracing and almost metallic top notes are derived from grapefruit, pepper and green freesia. Intense, simmering and vibrant.”…

Jennifer Jambon wins Prix International du Parfumeur Createur

Perfumer Jennifer JambonJennifer Jambon of Carlos Cramer Productos Aromáticos in Santiago, Chile, has won the Prix International du Parfumeur Createur 2008, a prize reserved for young perfumers (under the age of 35) and awarded by the Société Française des Parfumeurs.

This year's entrants were asked to create a fragrance inspired by a quote from Henri Bosco’s Le Mas Théotime:

Classic Perfume Advertising by Jacqueline JohnsonJacqueline Johnson's Classic Perfume Advertising features a collection of 370 color prints published in American and French magazines between 1920 and 1970. I’ve always admired the work of illustrators from the 1920s and ‘30s, so when I found this book on Amazon for a little under $29, I didn't think twice about ordering it. Although there are many print ad collections on the net nowadays, I prefer to browse through them in a nice, large book. I was also curious about the stories behind these ads, the people who created them, and the impact they had on the public. How did time affect universal themes in perfume advertising, like romance, sensuality, luxury, and elegance? I had high hopes for this book, and was really looking forward to it. But when my copy finally came in the mail, I couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

What you get for your 29 dollars is a book with a lot of beautiful illustrations indeed…
