I rarely experiment with seasonal scents at this time of year: I traditionally wear my trusty Caron Nuit de Noel perfume to holiday parties, and I might purchase some fresh potpourri from Santa Maria Novella, but that’s about it. The Bubble Roome’s Home Sweet Home is the first new holiday-themed product I’ve adopted in a long time. It’s a multi-purpose, water-based formula fragranced with a blend of oils; its scent notes are listed as frankincense, cinnamon, peach, blood orange, plum, woody juniper, spruce, pine, vanilla, and musk.
Home Sweet Home is sold as a combination “room refresher, linen spray, body spray.” I’ve been using it liberally around the kitchen, spritzing it lightly onto curtains and sofa pillows in the living room, and testing it on my skin and hair. Any of these methods creates an instant holiday mood…
French jewellery and perfume house Réminiscence have few shops outside France — a couple in Belgium, one in Kuwait and another in Saudi Arabia. It’s therefore a treat to find the Réminiscence shop in the heart of the King’s Road, London.
The interior of the shop is vivid aqua green, with counters on each side sparkling with silver and costume jewellery, and crystal chandeliers overhead. It’s a little like walking into an undersea treasure cave. Réminiscence is all about fantasy and playfulness, a theme that’s carried through to the fragrances and their presentation. Nautica will launch Nautica Oceans, a new fragrance for men, this coming March. Oceans will take advantage of new water-based (rather than alcohol-based) fragrance technology developed at Mane USA:
The patent-pending micro-emulsion technology…allows for a concentrated oil load of up to 20 percent to be built into water-based fragrances — and as a bonus, also offers skin benefits.
Oceans is meant to be “an environmentally responsible fragrance which utilizes biodegradable ingredients and packaging”, and will be fronted by actor Luke Flynn…
