I'm not sure whether I'm excited by the John Galliano or not. Every time I pass my Diptyque candle I get a frisson of anticipation, then I remember 'floral' and my excitement level drops. PLEEEEEASE let it smell interesting!

Back! OK, 'floral' was John's little joke, I think. I'm not the best at working out notes in the miasma of a perfume hall, but this seemed to me to be incense with aldehydes, a slightly heliotropish flavour and possibly a hint of ylang ylang (although I'm probably all wrong!) It reminded me a bit, after it dried down, of Silver Factory poured into an old No. 5 bottle. The bottle is a rather tortured purple thing, all twisted and gothic, with a strange plastic headress on top that turned out to be the sprayer. I think I'd break it in about ten minutes. It was cheaper than I'd expected – £42 for 40ml, £59 for 75ml, £69 for 100ml. Harrods are offering a dinky miniature bottle if you buy either of the two bigger sizes. I hummed and hawed about buying, and eventually reminded myself how many duff purchases I've made in perfume halls. I dragged mysefl away, but now that I'm home, I'm kicking myself. I'm liking the amber drydown. Sigh.

Hey, sounds more interesting than I expected. I might like SF poured in a No 5 bottle!
