Vera Wang Look ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 27 July 2008 22 Comments

Vera Wang Look fragranceVera Wang will launch Look, a new fragrance for women, this coming November. Unlike her signature scent and the follow-ups Truly Pink and Bouquet, Look is meant to resonate with Wang's ready-to-wear fashions rather than the bridal line.

Described by Wang as "Princess' sophisticated older sister", the fragrance was developed by perfumer Annie Buzantian and features notes of mandarin, watery greens, lychee, apple, lily, freesia, jasmine, oakmoss, vanilla, skin musk and patchouli.

Vera Wang Look will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, in 30 ml Parfum Elixir and in matching body products. (quote via wwd, additional information via cosmeticnews)

Other recent fragrances from Vera Wang: Bouquet, Flower Princess.

Update: see a review of Vera Wang Look.

It would have sounded more appealing without the vanilla and patchouli….

Miss Wang while designing beautiful wedding gowns and perfumes to match her bridal style realised one thing: woman might fall in love with all of her stuff but most probably it's not going to stay that way AFTER the wedding… Well now she created something for fashion-chics… not my style again. I guess I'll never get out of the niche…

It does sound like the first Princess, doesn't it? But no cupcake accord – that's an improvement. I do like this bottle better than her others. VW's line is predominantly bridal, but we never recommend any of them to brides lol. (Robin, you should write an article on brides and perfume – top 20 choices etc!)

    Glad you're back!

None of the top notes sound good to me except the citrus…

It does sound surprisingly Princess-like. But guessing it will skew older than Princess.

IrisNobile, she is definitely trying to break out of the “bridal” mold.

I'm assuming they'll make it markedly less sweet, but who knows? The bottle is more sophisticated than Princess, at least.

Angie wrote an article on bridal perfumes, but we haven't done anything terribly comprehensive, you're right. Another to add to the list of things to do 🙂

Doesn't seem like much to “look” at. Hopefully the smell will be better than the 'look' 😉 OKAY I'LL STOP. lol!

I really like the Simplicity and Elegance of the Bottle and I must admit i have higher hopes for the fragrance than most here. Lychee and Apple and Vanilla don't seem to scare the Bejesus out of me like it does for many. I feel the Pacthouli, Jasmine, Mandarin and Oakmoss will Round the Fragrance out more than Princess (which i don't care for too much but is much less sugary on the skin than in the bottle) and make it quite a bit more Upscale and Sophisticated. I think it will CertaInly be worth a Sniff if not a buy!

That is a chic bottle — I agree, it's worth a sniff at least. I'm curious to see what Vera Wang has to offer for her non-bridal line.

Look forward to reading a post about top 20 choices for bridal perfumes if it is published!

Definitely worth a sniff — Princess was too sweet for me, but perfect for its target market.

Maybe we need a bridal poll?

I think the logo on the bottle cheapens it. Personally, I think Look is a dupe for Bath and Body Works White Cherry Blossom Hand Cream.

What's a Parfum Elixar? Is that the pure? Can't wait to smell this!

Should be, although sometimes “elixir” is code for a gel or silicone based formula. Haven't investigated…
