    Avril Lavigne? Are they nuts?

And what would the notes be –

    head – stale smoke

    middle – puked beer

    base – wet pavement

I am embarrassed, as always, to admit I've no idea who she is. I'll find out before her perfume launches…

She is a young rebel punk rock artist. Very very pretty in a sulky panther-with-PMS sort of way. Her lyrics are mean and she is known to spit at nosy photographers.

I've never been to her concerts but judging from what she wears and from the music I imagine thick smoke, tank tops, piercings, heavy makeup, beer, cigarettes and the like. I wanted to add Extasy but then reconsidered – if her fans sulk as much as she does, they're probably not on it.

She really does, and isn't that a gorgeous picture? We'll have to keep our fingers crossed on the scent. Lindsay Lohan is another one I know almost zip about, although I do know who she is, for once.

Loved her in The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, two of our family's favorites!

I'm pretty sure she wears punk-lite styles while singing bubble gum pop that appeals mainly to young teens and tweens. She's scored a couple of summer hits–“Complicated” and “I Don't Like Your Girlfriend,” I think. I imagine her fragrance will smell like cotton candy and come in a pink plastic bottle.

I don't know much about Queen Latifah's music, but the films I've seen her in are entertaining. I think a frag that would be nice to mirror her personah would be something along the lines of ambery/powdery/smoky perhaps?

Just to add: I think “I Don't Like Your Girlfriend” has the “f-word” in it. While I can't claim familiarity with most of her catalogue, I'm pretty sure that the rest of her oeuvre is strictly child-friendly.

Actually, about two years ago Avril completely changed her street-rebel style and now loves couture & wears dresses. She softened up her makeup & her hair and she has a particular affinity for Louis Vuitton & Balenciaga bags. Almost evey major fashion mag has done a spread on her draped in designer threads. I think she may have alienated her original fan-base when she got married, out-grew the punky styles, and wanted to evolve into a more mature performer. So it will be interesting to see what kind of fragrance she comes out with – will it be the old 'skater-girl' Avril, or the newly polished material girl?

I happen to adore Queen Latifah, that woman can sing and she's a hoot on-screen as well. And I love that she's a 'big' girl, and not pressured into being rail-thin. I'm definitely curious to smell her frag!

More likely that they'll both do fruity florals, regardless of personal style 🙂

S'ok, my son isn't interested in popular music (yet) anyway…but thanks for the warning!

The only one I've seen is Chicago, but she was good in that! Ambery/powdery/smoky would be amazing for a celeb fragrance — we'll have to hope.

I adore Queen Latifah but I don't have high hopes for her fragrance. I've been waiting for Madonna to launch her own perfume line for years. I wonder what's up with Madge? I imagine Madonna has interesting taste in perfume. I was so disappointed with Prince's perfume. I expected something much more unusual from the symbol / aka Prince (who I also adore btw!)
Maybe Hilary Clinton who go for it next, and call it “smells of VP!”

Dear Abigail, Madonna has in the past “licensed” perfume in a cheap way, called “holly water”… no one ever has gotten the chance to smell it.

In real life, she had a “Fracas” fixation some years back, so I guess she is into classic frags mostly. I imagine her wearing mostly niche rose frags or Santa Maria Novella's frags.

Disclaimer: I am a well-known Madonna Fan… I am 35 y.o. and seeing her in full bloom at 50 is more than inspiring. I can only hope I'll have at least an 8th of the drive she has at that age… and of course she does not do it for money alone. Her aids awareness campaings in itself are admirable.

If she launchs a frag, even if it smells as macaroni and cheese, I'll buy it.

Hmmm – I'll bet a lot of admirers would be following us around if we smelled like mac n cheese! Bring it on! lol

Abigail, it seems so odd that Madonna hasn't done one yet. Agree on Prince…it was better than I expected, but still, could have been WAY better, and it wasn't unusual at all.

I'm a huge Madonna fan, too. And I also knew about her Fracas fixation 😉 In fact, when I wear Fracas, I think of Madge. I would also buy her frag, full bottle, no matter what it smelt like! But I imagine it would be wonderful. Either wonderfully classic or wonderfully unusual/odd. But it would never be mediocre or just pretty. So I wait…and wait…in the hope that Madonna will go for it someday.

If I remember correctly, the movie Truth or Dare has a scene backstage in which she is applying perfume after her performance. It appears to look like one of the Guerlain's frags?? Can anyone verify??

    That's a bit of a bummer though…

I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the ozone, fresh, marine, fruity releases…

The five-year-old I know uses the F-word more than any adult I've heard!

HUGE coincidence: my son apparently just learned this word today. Made me spew my tea at the dinner table.
