Sonoma Scent Studio Wood Violet & Vintage Rose ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 28 May 2008 6 Comments

Sonoma Scent Studio Wild Violet perfumeSonoma Scent Studio has launched two new fragrances for women:

Wood Violet (shown) ~ "A beautiful blend of violet, plum, violet leaf, cedar, sandalwood, and musk with subtle touches of clove and cinnamon. This scent opens with lush plumy violet notes and evolves into a softer and woodsier violet. Give this a try if you like cedar and violet combinations but have been looking for a more lasting and prominent violet note."

Vintage Rose ~ "A rich, feminine blend of rose, plum, labdanum absolute, tonka, amber, cedar, and sandalwood. The woods, plum, and tonka combine with the classic amber and rose pairing to make this scent special. It has a warm and long-lasting drydown with a dusky rose note."

Sonoma Scent Studio Wood Violet & Vintage Rose are available in 15 or 30 ml Eau de Parfum; samples are also sold. You can also stop by the Sonoma Scent Studio blog by the end of the day tomorrow to enter a drawing for free samples. (via sonomascentstudio)

Rose lovers alert! Vintage Rose is gorgeous. Smoky, honeyed, deep, long-lasting: if those descriptors make you melt, so willl this scent.

Okay, I'm finished wracking. Now then, what I'd really like to know is, what do you think of Wood Violet, Robin? Is it like SL Bois de Violette only more violette-y? Easier to get and cheaper, no doubt, so I'l love to know if you like it, as I have not sniffed either but am intrigued by both. Thanks.

Also, just by the by; I've been catching up on lots of old threads and got all nostalgic on your behalf, reading many of the entries from 2005. Seems you were just starting out, had a tight contingent of friends and not heaps of strangers like me as you do now, and the world of fragrance was fresh and new. Do you miss those halcyon days?

LOL — I can hardly stand to read any of the posts from 2005! Every time I see one I want to delete it and rewrite. I certainly miss that sense of wonder & excitement about fragrance. Now I'm jaded & bitter, HA.

SL Bois de Violette is MUCH heavier on the cedar, it is like cedar chips with some violet. It is also spicier — as with many of the SL Bois scents, it smells like there's some cumin hidden in there. But I haven't got a sample so can't compare them directly.

The Vintage Rose is lovely, will try to review it soon.

Well, if it's any consolation, your ancient posts read fresh and erudite to me!

Thanks for describing BdV so well. Hmm. Interesting. And, wheee!!! You actually DO like the Vintage Rose??? *sigh of relief*
