Amouage has launched Homage, a limited edition attar to mark their 25th anniversary:
The attar is a heady floral, dominated by Rose Taifi, the finest quality rose oil extracted from the petals of the rose, which is famed throughout the Gulf region for its rich and romantic fragrance. The name derives from the ancient city of Taif where the precious rose was grown and guarded by the Saudi Kings who ruled the city, as a valuable and rare treasure.
Complementing this are the finest Silver Frankincense, found only in the southern mountain ranges of Oman, Tayyiba, a beautiful blend of Jasmine, Sweet Amber and White Musk, Silver Oud and Al Andalus, a subtle blend of Orange, Lemon and Sandalwood.
Amouage Homage is available exclusively at Selfridges in London, and is £175 for 12 ml. (via press release from Amouage)

Oooo, just as I was thinking Jubilation XXV and Dia pour Homme were joining my long term acqusition list…. yet another to send me broke… I wonder if there will be any similarity to Ormonde Jayne Ta'if which is one of my all time favourites.
The notes sound pretty different from the OJ — which just means you need both, right?
I went to London last weekend, and did Les Senteurs, Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Chanel and Hermes in one go! I tried Amouage Gold in Harrods and some neat oud oils which were strange, though Gold was lovely, if a little “big” for me. The perfume equivalent of an Idol contestant doing a Whitney song, you could say. Anyway, I missed this Homage one, but it was at the end of my marathon, so my attention span was flagging!
I think it's only at Selfridges, not Harrods. Ah well, sounds like you had plenty to sniff!
You bet – including 7 free samples of Byredo and Parfumerie Generale, Mona di Orio and Serge Lutens at Les Senteurs, plus I blagged a Bond No 9 Chinatown in Harrods. That's not even counting the paper strips! But the opulence and exoticism of the Amouage certainly appealed, even if I lack the front to wear it!

Well, I think I tried one or two I didn't care for, possibly Gypsy Water, but I wasn't paying enough attention at the start, then I took samples of the unisex Rose Noire and Green away with me. The former was a spicy, dark, yet surprisingly subtle type of rose, which faded quite fast on me, and the Green was intensely green to start with, like Chanel No 19 on acid – or “grass” even?! I would describe the range as quite abstract and modern on the whole and unlike anything I have tried before. Liked them both, not sure I loved either. I wish I could remember what else I tried and didn't like, but I am liable to get muddled with PG, of which Ilang Ivohibe was probably my favourite, not least for its name!
Hmmm…at least they sound interesting! I think they're coming to the US over the summer, will look forward to trying them.
