Celebrity perfume news round-up 2008, part the third

Posted by Robin on 17 March 2008 2 Comments

Pfffft! comes the spray onto the wrist, as she takes my hand, pulls me along a studio floor and pirouettes the pair of us through a cloud of a fragrance called 'M'. Naturally, it's her own. 'M' is a light, floral/incense affair with a toasted marshmallow 'top-note' personally requested by Carey because it reminds her of being young. Just about the most successful female recording artist the world has known, aged 37, believes she is 'eternally 12'.

— Mariah Carey talks to The Telegraph in Mariah Carey: Come in and smell the perfume, which really isn't much about perfume other than the snippet quoted above.

Is Queen Latifah next in line for a celebrity fragrance? Sounds like it: "On Saturday night, Queen Latifah showed up with her manager and the CEO of the fragrance company that is producing Latifah's new scent." (via Miami Herald link no longer working, sorry)

Evangeline Lilly of Lost will be the next face of Davidoff Cool Water Woman; look for the new ads this summer. (via cosmeticsinternational)

And an aside that isn't about perfume at all: did you know that Keith Richards will be endorsing Louis Vuitton? Seriously. See the proof.

It seems like these days its all about the packaging, fancy bottles, and famous names and less about whats in the bottle. Even Hummer has its own cologne. I guess the perfume industry is becoming saturated with everything and anything to make some money and losing the definition it use to have.
