Posted by Robin on 16 March 2008 5 Comments

Avon U by Ungaro fragrances

Avon and Emanuel Ungaro will collaborate to launch a new duo of fragrances, U by Ungaro for Her and U by Ungaro for Him, this coming August. The scents will be fronted by actress Reese Witherspoon.

Avon U by Ungaro For Her was developed by perfumers Jean Marc Chaillan and Loc Dong, and the "fresh, woody floral" includes notes of bergamot blossom, freesia, pepper blossom, acacia aura, lotus flower, osmanthus, iris, sandalwood and musk.

Avon U by Ungaro For Him was developed by Yves Cassar and Pascal Gaurin, and the "woody aromatic watery blend" features green mandarin leaf, ruby red grapefruit, pomegranate, immortelle, cardamom, cedar leaf, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean and Peru balsam.

I'll add the sizes & concentrations later when I can find them. (quotes via cosmeticnews, additional information via Women's Wear Daily) Update: U by Ungaro for Her is in 50 ml Eau de Parfum; U by Ungaro for Him is in 75 ml Eau de Toilette.

More Avon collaborations: Avon + Cynthia Rowley Flower & Petal, Avon + Christian Lacroix Rouge & Noir

Fragonard Belle de Soleil perfumeFragonard has launched Belle de Soleil, a new fragrance for women:

A sunny fragrance with sparkling opening notes of bergamot, orange, lemon petitgrain… exotic heart of tiare flower, frangipani blossom and jasmine sweetened with benzoin, musk and vetiver.

Fragonard Belle de Soleil is available in 200 ml Eau de Toilette. (via fragonard, beaute-addict)

I really like what Avon is doing by way of these collaborations.

In a way it is “classy-ing up” their perfume line up, which although I must admit has some fine smelling products, specially for women (a coworker used to wear “pur blanca” I don't know if it is available worlwide but I loved it.. nice “clean” scent for women) the packaging and branding (names, photo ads) always looked cheap and half-assed to me.

I have not smelt the Cinthia Rowleys but the Lacroixes are better than average in my book, albeit a liiiitle too sythetic for my taste.. but I'll probably buy them anyway 😀

      Replying to myself here…
The U by Ungaro for women is really nice, I get Freesia and Lotus Flower.
THe U by Ungaro for men is completely unremarkable IMHO. Just as the description says “woody aromatic watery blend” move along…nothing to see here 🙂

I like what they're doing in theory, but since I never get to smell any of them, that is as far as I can go!

I love the U by Ungaro for Her. It is spicy and light at the same time. And it has nice layers. Sometimes the reg Avon wears off in 1 hour. I did not get this with the U by Ungaro. I tried the CL Absinthe and Rouge. The Absinthe was interesting, and I will try it again this fall. The Rouge was too much for me (but I might try it again anyway.) I have not tried the Noir.

Glad to hear the U by Ungaro is nice! I did get to finally try the Absynthe, and it was nice too although didn’t fall in love w/ it.
