Bunch o’ limited edition collector bottles 2008, part 1

Posted by Robin on 19 February 2008 10 Comments

Here are a few of the limited edition collector fragrance bottles that have launched since we last did a round-up for the 2007 holiday season. In most of these cases, the juice is unchanged, just the bottle is "special". Also note that a few of these may not be available in the US.

Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll limited editionAt Sephora, Yves Saint Laurent's Baby Doll. The "special, limited-edition bottle features the signature faceted crystal bottle shaped like a spinning top, with sweet, romantic graphics and a silver stopper", 50 ml for $52.

Hugo Art EditionAlso at Sephora, the Hugo Art Edition from Hugo Boss. You can see a 2007 Hugo Art Edition here. If there is anything worth knowing about the "art", Sephora isn't telling. 100 ml is $55.

Estee Lauder Beautiful Romantic Bloom
At Neiman Marcus, an Estee Lauder Beautiful solid perfume in a compact designed by Jay Strongwater. "Beautiful Romantic Bloom", $325.

Armani Code ElixirAt Saks Fifth Avenue, Armani Code Elixir: "A limited edition elixir with atomizer. The most intense, mysterious, magnetic and sophisticated facet of seduction, as precious as a vintage jewel." 50 ml, $65.

Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps Couture EditionAt Marionnaud in France, a limited "Couture Edition" of Nina Ricci's L'Air du Temps, wrapped in a feather dress inspired by the designs of Creative Director Olivier Theyskens. 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps Edition LaliqueMore Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps: a coffret with two 7.5 ml Lalique bottles of extrait. 227,20€ at Sephora in France.

YSL Opium Legendes de ChineAt Harrods in the UK, Yves Saint Laurent Opium Legendes de Chine, a "precious and refined limited edition to celebrate the anniversary of the mythical fragrance". £60 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

The Estee Lauder compact is beautiful. I was in Sephora today and the new Baby Doll bottle is just like the old one, but with ugly pink line drawings on the top.

The Nina Ricci set looked like a toilet to me. I thought the case/stand was a white commode… does anyone else see that?

LOL! Not until you said that, but yeah – a very fancy toilet!

Would like to suggest a poll of readers' choices for the most beautiful perfume bottles and best designs to reflect the fragrances they house.

You mean like most beautiful ever? that would be fun but hard to administer — you'd end up with a HUGE list 🙂

Flacons D'Or website has a yearly contest to have the public choose the best bottles in many categories but they pick the ones for us to choose from. I think that people could send in their choices, the majority of votes for the same fragrances would make up a short list and then we could vote for our favourites of all time.

I'll have to check out their contest, thanks!

The Estee Lauder solid perfume looks somehow like a human organ….

LOL — it sorta does, although I think that's because I kept the image sizes so small that you miss some of the detail.
