Balmain La Mome ~ new fragrance

Balmain La Mome perfumeIn conjunction with the upcoming film La Môme (La Vie en Rose) about French singer Edith Piaf, Balmain will launch a new perfume, La Môme. The scent was created by perfumer Guillaume Flavigny and is an oriental floral with notes of Rose de Mai, freesia, violet and amber.

The 50 ml Eau de Parfum will be 49€ and will be exclusive to Marionnaud in France. (via aufeminin)

Update: other notes for La Môme include pink pepper, raspberry, myrrh, iris, musk and opopanax. (via osmoz)

Update 2: look for La Môme to go into wider distribution in March, in both 50 and 100 ml. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Serge Lutens Rousse fragranceSerge Lutens is apparently doing very well indeed, according to an article in today's Womens Wear Daily:

Business at the niche fragrance and cosmetics brand owned by Shiseido has grown fivefold over the past five years, according to Hassan Saad, the brand's director.

Raise your hand if you helped spur that growth! The brand now has 40 perfumes; the best sellers are Fleurs d'Oranger and Ambre Sultan. Pictured is the upcoming fragrance Rousse, which joins the export line this year.

L'Occitane Honey Foaming Jelly for Body and HairHoney Foaming Jelly for Body and Hair, a combination shower gel and shampoo, is one of the products in L'Occitane's Honey Harvest line. Its label is illustrated with charming, colorful images of bees flanked by clover blossoms, and in the L'Occitane shops, it stands amidst a series of related products, including bars of soap shaped like honeybees.

The familiar symbolism of bees and honey is both practical and indulgent. Bees are traditionally associated with industriousness to the point of compulsion: you can be “busy as a bee” or find yourself preoccupied by a “bee in your bonnet”. The bees' nectar-like output, on the other hand, is the epitome of sweetness: you can address your lover with the endearment “honey” during your “honeymoon”, and you can always “catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”…
