Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere perfumeChanel has launched Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere:

A decidedly lighter, fresher, softer interpretation of N°5. . . a silky-smooth harmony of notes that reveals the delicate facet of the world-renowned fragrance.

The new fragrance was adapted from the original Chanel No. 5 scent by Chanel perfumer Jacques Polge, and includes “all of No. 5’s original ingredients…”

Lisa Hoffman Variations French Clary Sage, Tunisian Neroli & Tuscan Fig fragrances

Lisa Hoffman, wife of actor Dustin Hoffman and founder (last year) of Lisa Hoffman Night & Day 24 Hour Skincare, is entering the fragrance market this November with Variations. The collection comprises three fragrances, French Clary Sage, Tunisian Neroli and Tuscan Fig, each packaged in a set of four versions designed to be worn at different times of the day and night (morning, daytime, evening and bedtime)…

Celine Ellena on perfume

Celine Ellena, daughter of Jean Claude Ellena and a perfumer in her own right (see The Different Company Sel de Vetiver, among others), talks to Smithsonian Magazine about what it is like to be a perfumer today, and answers the burning question of whether or not she talks shop with her father. On why humans feel the urge to wear perfume:

At the beginning, I think, we created fragrances to talk with God. Fragrance is mysterious. Now when you wear fragrance, you want to send a mysterious message. You want people to smell you, to be listening.
