Burberry Brit Sheer ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 23 August 2007 14 Comments

Burberry Brit Sheer perfumeBurberry will launch Burberry Brit Sheer, a new, lighter, fruity floral variation on 2003’s popular Brit fragrance (previous flankers include Brit Red, Brit Gold).

Brit Sheer was developed by perfumer Emilie Coppermann, and is “designed to embody the youthful spirit of Burberry Brit and the individual, charismatic woman it was created for”…

Smell research: the crested auklet

Posted by Robin on 23 August 2007 2 Comments

University of Alaska Fairbanks researcher Hector Douglas has found that, for crested auklets, chemistry has both amorous and practical applications. The birds rub a citrus-like scent, secreted in wick-like feathers on their backs, on each other during courtship, a behavior called alloanointing.

Guerlain Shalimar Black Mystery

...be back tomorrow.

The eye candy is the new Shalimar Black Mystery from Guerlain. Don't know a darn thing about it except that a) it is limited edition, b) this particular bottle is 30 ml for $350 at Neiman Marcus and c) I want one. And I don't even wear Shalimar.

Cèdre (2005) — I can see why some people adore Cèdre, but it has never really grown on me.

Miel de Bois (2005) — probably my favorite of this group, but I’d be shocked if this sells. Most people apparently think it smells like urine.

Gris Clair (2006) — not me.

Chypre Rouge (2006) — admire it, but don’t adore it.

Mandarine Mandarin (2006) — ditto.

Rousse (2007) — I really liked Rousse. Not quite so much as Miel de Bois, maybe, but it is higher on the wearability scale. Of all these, this might be the one I’d most like to own.

So now we have Louve, the “She-Wolf”. It is the lastest to join the export line…
