Perfume in the news: Britney!

“We have a long-standing and very successful relationship with Britney Spears. We care about her personally and remain completely supportive of her,” the beauty company said in a statement, after a New York Post story on Wednesday outlined how her recent antics may be hurting sales.

Nautica Island Voyage ~ new fragrance

Nautica Island Voyage fragranceNautica will launch Island Voyage, a limited edition followup to last year's Voyage fragrance, in March:

Concocted by Maurice Roucels [sic] of Symrise, the scent, a fresh aquatic fougere, has top notes of ocean marine, lemon, black pepper, Italian bergamot and honeydew melon; a heart of lavender, wild jasmine and purple iris, and a drydown of cedarwood, musk and sandalwood.

Nautica Island Voyage will be available in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via Women's Wear Daily)

News flash: there are WAY too many perfumes

avalancheNo fragrance review today, sorry. Just keeping up with the new releases is becoming very nearly a full time job, and leaves very little time for actually smelling anything, much less writing a review. According to Michael Edwards' Fragrances of the World database, there were 693 new fragrance launches in 2006 (via moodiereport), and this little tidbit appeared in today's New York Times article about Chanel:

Kate Greene, the vice president for marketing fine fragrances in North America at Givaudan, said that 800 new fragrances are expected to make their appearance in 2007.

800! That is over 2 a day, people…
