Aveda Rose Attar Pure Fume Absolute ~ new fragrance

Aveda Rose Attar Pure Fume fragranceAveda is launching a limited edition fragrance for Valentine's Day, Rose Attar Pure Fume Absolute. It is Aveda's first fragrance release in the last four years, and production will be limited to 3700 numbered bottles (if you want one, you might want to get in touch with your local Aveda now; some stores are pre-selling their allocation).

Rose Attar Pure Fume Absolute is certified organic, and each bottle is said to contain over 500 Bulgarian rose petals blended with Indian sandalwood. The price will be $125 for 1/4 oz. (via cosmeticsint, cosmeticsbusiness, shopsunvalley)

News flash: Luca Turin likes the new Chanels

Actually, it's already old news for anyone who reads the fragrance forums, but in case you missed it, Luca Turin's latest article in NZZ Folio basically says: save your pennies, you're going to need all six of the new Les Exclusifs de Chanel perfumes...

In my opinion, these six permanently change the landscape of perfumery by proving that there is, after all, a modern Grand Manner.

The Murphy’s Law of fragrance sampling says quite simply that the more you like a scent, the quicker it will disappear. It follows, of course, that a fragrance that you detest beyond all understanding will cling to your skin like glue, and lingering traces will remain on your wool coat even after several dry-cleanings.

Over the years I have read about and tried any number of perfume-removal methods. Wiping with alcohol is frequently recommended, but rarely removes hardcore offenders, and scrubs, well, sometimes even removing the top layer of skin isn’t enough…

Tom Ford Private Blend ~ new collection of fragrances

Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia perfumeAs previously reported, Tom Ford will launch Private Blend, a collection of 12 unisex fragrances, in March. The fragrances are Amber Absolute, Noir de Noir, Velvet Gardenia, Black Violet, Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood, Purple Patchouli, Bois Rouge, Moss Breches, Tuscan Leather, Neroli Portofino and Japan Noir, and here are the few scent descriptions we have so far, courtesy of Women's Wear Daily…
