Shilpa Shetty S2 ~ celebrity perfume news

Posted by Robin on 11 February 2007 14 Comments

Shilpa ShettyIn a vaguely comic turn of events, Shilpa Shetty, the Bollywood star who recently won the UK reality series Big Brother, is now in talks to create her own perfume. Jade Goody, the last Big Brother star to release her own perfume, found her scent pulled from stores after she made allegedly racist comments about Ms. Shetty. Scented body Products: Trilogy Body Wash

Posted by Jessica on 11 February 2007 4 Comments

Trilogy Body WashThe New Zealand-based company Trilogy and its line of plant-based skincare products, including Botanical Body Wash, are the creations of sisters Sarah Gibbs and Catherine Wells. Things change: the landmark Bullocks Wilshire building is now part of The Southwestern University School of Law, there’s nothing carefree about my abundant credit cards, and living in Seattle means cool weather is not as special as it used to be…

Groups organizing boycott of IFRA’s 40th Amendment

Posted by Robin on 9 February 2007 2 Comments

IFRA, the International Fragrance Association, recently published a new amendment to its voluntary code of practice, which is meant to “properly regulate and provide products that are safe for use by the consumer and for the environment”. The 40th Amendment has been stirring up controversy, primarily because it limits the use of various natural raw materials in perfumery, but also because it places bureaucratic burdens on smaller perfume houses.

A number of groups, spearheaded by Cropwatch (an “independent watchdog for endangered and vulnerable natural aromatic products”), are organizing a boycott of the new regulations. Perfumer & Flavorist recently ran a poll on the subject; 85% of the respondents favored a boycott. If you'd like to learn more about the issue…
