Lancome Tresor Elixir ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 October 2007 16 Comments

Lancome Tresor Elixir perfume

Lancôme has launched Trésor Elixir, a new limited edition variation on the original Trésor fragrance created by perfumer Sophia Grojsman in 1990:

A new intensity – Trésor Elixir captures the finest attributes of the original, amplifying its roundness and richness in a fragrant new interpretation.

Trésor Elixir is a woody fruity floriental, created for a woman who is lively and romantic, modern and contemporary – a woman who wants to capture treasured moments with intensity.

Like Trésor, Trésor Elixir is based on Otto rose, with peach accents. According to Osmoz, the new Trésor Elixir is "...sweeter and fuller-bodied, with woodsy, almost leather-like accents and a balmier trail (honey rose, vanilla absolute, heliotrope, sandalwood)".

Lancôme Trésor Elixir is $67 for the 50 ml bulb atomizer bottle, concentration unknown. (first quote via lancome)

I don't know, I thought the original was pretty intense. I can always smell Tresor coming. It's pretty, but strong. I guess they had to balance the sheer version and bookend the brand?

It is true, I'm not sure I could manage a sweeter, stronger Tresor. But will give it a shot!

Must try. I have reservations, too. Perhaps the extra wood will carry the sweetness and intensity and tone down the original's singular. . . Tresor-ness. I used to own a small bottle of the original when it was first released, but tired of it very quickly. I actually really enjoy the '06 LE Tresor Eau de Printemps, very hard to find now; it was sheer and pretty without being fluffy.

Tresor is lovely, but I was always a Paris girl. Both great scents that need to be applied SPARINGLY, LOL…

Maybe the leather notes will give this scent a little more dryness, which to me would be a good thing – I never did care for it much. The sweetness of the peach note just overwhelms, to my nose. I think it's a well-crafted fragrance, but the peach is so intense it's almost syrupy . For a Lancome, give me Magie Noire any day!

AMPLIFYING its richness? What, because the original one was too understated, LOL?

Oh, oops, I just noticed that it's supposed to be even *sweeter* than the original…so much for thinking the leathery notes might help it out. Is it even possible for Tresor to be any sweeter?! Yikes!

Echoing everyone else's sentiments: Ye gods! is it even possible for Tresor to BE any more sweet and intense? Just catching a whiff from a bottle is enough to knock me over! I think I will stay far, far away from this new version.

LOL — I can't but agree with all of you! Hopefully, “sweeter” isn't what they really meant (?)

    They must be joking right?

After almost a decade in which every woman in their late 30s to late 40s in my part of the world overdosed on this (smelling it coming and never going away!) I became inoculated against it.

Please tell me there is a vaccine for the new version as well…..

Perhaps “balmier trail” means something other than stronger/sweeter, we shall see 🙂

Agree, agree, agree…a richer Tresor would be like marketing a fuller, richer Haagen Dazs. Yikes. Although…I would at least *try* the Haagen Dazs! 😉

Um, quite sure I'd buy the Haagen Dazs too!

come on, L'Oreal just made up this new “concentration”: ELIXIR DE PARFUM ( supposed to be stronger than the EDP and lighter than the pure perfume). They'll do in on Tésor, Hypnôse and Armani Code. They come with a pump (can't really imagine a pump spray – vaporisateur poire- on Code, but who knows…). Trésor is a rebalanced version of the original EDP, a little bit more modern. Not especially stronger, but rounder

They aren't the only ones — these “elixir” formulas are very popular lately! But glad to hear it isn't especially stronger 🙂
