Frederic Malle Une Rose fragrance review

Continuing with this week’s rose theme (see Lancome Mille et Une Roses and Bond no. 9 West Side & Bryant Park), today we have Une Rose (update: renamed Rose Tonnerre in 2022) from Frederic Malle Editions de Parfums, an entirely different sort of rose, far from the quiet elegance of the Lancome or the stylish modernity of the Bonds. Une Rose was created by Edouard Fléchier, a perfumer best known for Christian Dior Poison, and includes notes of geranium, blue camomile, wine dregs, Turkish rose absolute, and truffle accord (patchouly accord, vetiver and castoreum absolute)…

Guerlain L'Instant Fleur de Mandarine fragranceGuerlain will launch limited edition variations on L'Instant for women and men this spring. For women, L'Instant de Guerlain Fleur de Mandarine (shown) dresses up the original L'Instant fragrance (magnolia, cedar, musk, vanilla) with citrus and fruity notes, including mandarin, bergamot, bigarade, blackcurrant and mandarin blossom. For men, L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Cristaux d'Agrumes is given a citrusy twist with bergamot, Italian citron, grapefruit. (via fashionmag.fr)

Coach, the American leather goods line, will launch their first fragrance in March under arrangements with Estee Lauder…

On Sillage de la Reine ~ perfume in the news

When Francis Kurkdjian, one of France's premier perfumers, set out to re-create a fragrance of Marie Antoinette, his greatest fear was that it would stink.

After all, he reasoned, the 21st-century nose might have little tolerance for the potent potions that the famous queen and her royal court used to mask the smells of their opulent but odiferous 18th-century environs at the Chateau de Versailles.
