Demeter Hot Kiss Collection, Calvin Klein Euphoria Crystalline ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 7 September 2007 8 Comments

Demeter Hot Kiss fragrance collection

Demeter has launched a new collection of fragrances in conjunction with the Hot Kiss clothing brand. The five new fragrances include:

Girly Girl ~ "a delicate and feminine floral with notes of Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Orchid and Hibiscus Leaf. Underlying accents of fresh Pineapple and warm Coconut complete this scent."

Double Trouble ~ "Hot, sensual, inviting... this fragrance highlights scents of Champagne, Cane Sugar and Black and Purple Pansies. Exotic and unusual this scent reveals its true character over time and only fully on the skin."

Heart Breaker ~ "This hypnotic scent opens with notes of fresh Ginger, Apricot and Bergamot, supported by a floral heart of Neroli, Jasmine and Clover. Rounded out with Sandalwood and exquisite Amber. A truly remarkable scent that must be experienced."

Sugar Addict ~ "More than simply sweet, this velvety, smooth fragrance is as luxurious as it is sensual. Dominant notes of Butterscotch combine with a veil of Vanilla Bean, Butter and Cream."

Sweet Talker ~ "This ultra feminine and playful scent is delicate and unique - dominated by pure and unsweetened Maple Syrup, and touched with hints of vanilla bean and lush green maple leaves."

The Demeter Hot Kiss collection fragrances are available in 15 ml splash; 30 or 120 ml spray, concentration unknown. (via demeterfragrance, with thanks to MagicMarti for the tip!)

Other recent releases from Demeter: Crayon, Pure Soap.

Calvin Klein Euphoria Crystalline perfume

This October, Calvin Klein honors Euphoria's second anniversary with four new limited edition products, the Euphoria Crystalline collection. The Euphoria Crystalline Edition Eau de Parfum adorns the original Euphoria bottle with Swarovski crystals, while Euphoria Crystal Shimmer Spray Eau de Parfum "has been infused with a soft, silver gleam to dress up arms, legs and décolleté for evening". Also look for Sparkling Solid Parfum Compact, again decorated with Swarovski crystals, and Body Silk. (via moodiereport, osmoz)

Other recent releases from Calvin Klein: Calvin Klein CKIN2U, Calvin Klein Man.

It looks as if the Demeter bottle pictured says “eau de parfum spray”.

It does, but the ordering page says “Eau de Toilette” (and it is the same price as other EdTs in the line) so don't know which is correct.

    Well, that's baffling, isn't it?

There isn't really a firm definition of either EDP or EDT (not to mention such boundary-blurring designations as “esprit de parfum” and “parfum de toilette”), and there's some overlap in the concentration of essential oils, so it could be either. (One site says that EDP is 10-30% aromatics and EDT is 5-20%: another says it's 15 to 22 for EDP and 8 to 15 for EDT, so there clearly isn't much agreement in the field–that's a really wide range.)

My guess is that the concentration is right on the boundary dividing EDP and EDT (which is to say about 15 per cent perfume oils), that it's the same strength as their other scents, but that, since these are blended scents that leave the usual Demeter territory, they're marketing them as EDP to fit into the wider universe of commercial scents, most of which seem to be marketed as EDP. (And it's also worth keeping in mind that the difference only makes a real difference when the company is marketing both, because they'll be constructed differently: if they want to call the only strength of something an EDP or an EDT or whatever, they can really have any concentration of essential oils that they want. Clinique, after all, calls all their women's scents “perfume”, though they're priced like EDPs.)

All of that sounds convincing to me! I would be surprised if they weren't stronger than the usual Demeters, since otherwise they'd have a hard time marketing them under another brand name (and these don't say Demeter on the bottle).

    Grr!!

We don't sell Demeter over here & I hear them calling “Buy me, buy me”.

The custom officers will love me when I come back from LV!

You'd better find out how many liters of liquid you're allowed to bring back 😉

Robin… Sweet Talker: “Unsweetened Maple Syrup”?? I am a diabetic, but yeesh! The one sounding the most interesting to me is Heartbreaker, b/c of the spices.

I am intrigued by the champagne in Double Trouble, and in fact ought to check to see if Demeter already does a champagne scent — that would be fun. Have a feeling all of these will be too sweet for me though!
