Robin has already made a brief mention of how lovely she found Crème d'Ananas, the matching body cream to L'Artisan Ananas Fizz, but I couldn't help writing more on the subject. Not being a fan of the original Ananas Fizz (too little pineapple, and far too much grapefruit and cedar for my tastes), I hardly expected to warm to the lotion. I probably wouldn't even have tried it had I not decided to buy a jar as a Christmas present for a friend. Once I idly sampled the contents of the jar at the countertop while the sales assistant was ringing up my purchase, my friend's needs suddenly receded to the background and I decided that perhaps the cream should be my Christmas present instead!
I'm not sure that I can adequately describe just how wonderful this product is; I find it so amazing that it has beaten out even my beloved Luctor et Emergo Body Cream to become my favorite lotion of all time. The scent itself is fairly pleasant; I prefer it to the Eau de Toilette as the pineapple is a bit stronger and sweeter, with no cedar accompaniment to dull it, only tart grapefruit and a veil of sheer vanilla. But it's the texture, not the scent of the cream that makes it so special; I've only experienced something like it in a facial cold cream, never in a body lotion. Crème d'Ananas has been whipped into a light, fluffy, luxurious soufflé-like cloud that practically melts into the skin, moisturizes like a dream and produces a tingly, icy cool, soothing effect that lasts for hours.
It's really better suited to hot weather as it cools one down beautifully, but I've taken to applying it after my post-workout shower. In fact, I find it so addictive to apply that lately I've actually been forcing myself to go to the gym more often than usual just so I can use it. No lie. You must try this cream.

It really is! Actually I was talking to somebody from L'Artisan last month and they mentioned that all their body lotions had been reformulated (in preparation perhaps, for the upcoming Jatamansi line), and I do believe they are up to the standard of CdA now, so if you can get your hands on any of them you'll see how lovely the texture of this stuff is 🙂
Anjali, the texture sounds heavenly. I may have one or twelve unused jars of body cream under the bathroom sink, but I must try this! Do all of the L'Artisan fragrances have matching body cream?
If the online selection at Aedes is any indication, the answer to my own question is no. They have the body lotion in five scents that I don't like and the body cream in Ananas Fizz only.

Yes, tragically, there is only one body cream, and a limited lotion selection in non-keetery scents (though I do find The pour Une Ete quite nice a tea-y and I thought it might have been up your alley). I don't know if they are planning to expand their selection anytime soon since I think they are pooling all their b&b resources into Jatamansi (which smells rather herbal and uninspiring, but I only got a quick smell). BUT, I suspect, you may get to try some of this sooner than you think 🙂
The texture sounds ideal! Why can't they do a cream like this for Mechant Loup? Glad to hear your thoughts on Jatamansi – I haven't been overly hopeful about it. But I'm definitely going to search out this cream.
Well, I only got a half-second sniff from a bottle of what I think was the bath oil, so who knows, Jatamansi may still be somewhat worthy in the end! I think though, the point of the line is not the smell but the quality of the products, made with such and such rare & natural ingredients. Too which I say “boring!” of course, because smell is half the fun 🙂 Also, with the quality of L'Artisan's normal line already so high, how much can they really improve? Not enough for the additional price they are going to charge I feel! But I'll wait and see.

The Jatamansi cream has a very nice texture, but almost no discernible smell. I suppose that was intentional, so it can be worn with any scent.

So good to know! I think I was smelling the bath oil (or essential oil perhaps?) and I know that that did have a faint herbally smell, but it makes sense and is actually quite nice that the lotion is unscented…I may just have to get it in that case because of the versatility 🙂
