Juozas Statkevicius Eau de Parfum ~ new fragrance at Beautyhabit

Posted by Robin on 21 February 2007 16 Comments

Juozas Statkevicius Eau de ParfumLithuanian designer Juozas Statkevicius' eponymous Eau de Parfum has launched at Beautyhabit:

Incense is at the very heart of this composition. It embodies contrasts such as shadow and light, past and modernity, simplicity and complexity, power and softness...

By creating a precious case of white jasmine, patchouli, and coriander around the incense, Fabrice Pellegrin allowed it to reveal its true beauty, without appearing too dark, to dense or too austere. Vanilla, Benzoin, and Musks, also contribute, thanks to their lusciousness and modernity, to domesticate the incense and let it fully express its ambery and warm notes.

Cashmere wood and coriander bring a noble character and subtly enhance this indulgent and unique combination, for an intense, authentic and lasting perception.

Juozas Statkevicius Eau de Parfum is $165 for 50 ml. Update: see a review of the Juozas Statkevicius fragrance.

I've sniffed this and it is goooood stuff. I just tried it the once because I didn't think I'd be in Lithuania any time soon and I didn't want to fall to terribly deeply in love with someone so unattainable (not that I'm not familiar with that experience). But now… Oh, dear. Going to have to make some room in the perfume budget.

Can't wait to try it, but hoping I'll hate it — it sure isn't cheap! So far, everything I've read has been very positive though.

I should be able to pronounce his name. But I'm not really sure.

Yo-jus Statch-kev-ishus? Am I even close? Does anyone know?

If ever a case could be made for 'accordioning' a name, in the JLo mode, this is it. I think I'll dub the man JuStat! 😉

this price is almost double the retail price in europe (including the exchange rate). beautyhabit should be ashamed of themselves. but then again, it's the same with some of the italian lines on off in the us, no?

Bizarrely, there are many European lines where it's cheaper to buy from the US, even with the cost of international postage.

He seems to be using Josef Statkus as well — you can find his website under both names 🙂

It isn't always easy to tell why things cost what they do. Don't know if JS has a US distributor or not, and if they do, they could be setting the price, if not, hard to say what it is costing BH to bring these to the US. Not defending the price, just saying it isn't *always* a matter of gratuitous markup.

Statkyavichus. However, I am not sure if this rendition is any easier to pronounce. 🙂 Baltic languages are among the hardest, in my opinion.

The retail price in Germany is €120, so not that far off the beautyhabit price, me thinks 🙂

Really, it is that high in Germany? That is pretty darn close in price, actually.

Yep, it is… so we are all in the same boat on this one. But I love the stuff so what 🙂

the FIF price is 120. i originally bought it in germany for almost 1/2 that. i'll have to go back and see if the price went up in that place as well. ah, supply and demand.

Half that, really? Wondering if they have a distributor now, that might explain it.
