Claus Porto Voga fragrance candleThe white clusters of acacia flowers redolent of jasmine and orange blossom with a touch of coconut lend themselves to being reproduced in a perfume. For the time being, I am happy to discover it in a candle form. The black wax of Claus Porto Voga is saturated with this magnificent aroma that is reminiscent of late spring when the tall trees covered with feathered leaves suddenly blossom, only to lose their finery a few days later in a white, fragrant rainfall. The rich scent of the Voga candle conjures my walks through the acacia-lined streets in the city where I grew up…

L’Essence de Mastenbroek Eau de Polder: new fragrance at Luckyscent

Essence de Mastenbroek Eau de Polder fragranceEau de Polder from L'Essence de Mastenbroek launched in 2005, and has one of the best perfume backstories I've ever heard. It was created by artist Birthe Leemeijer and perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri in collaboration with the residents of Mastenbroek, a polder in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The project was initiated by Skor as part of a larger effort to preserve the cultural heritage of the polder:

The polder is under pressure from urban and industrial developments and has therefore been included as one of the projects in the government’s Belvédère National Heritage scheme…
