L'Occitane Eau des Baux

I stopped in the L’Occitane store in the Pittsburgh airport the other day, really to do nothing more than kill time, only to be surprised by a host of new and re-released fragrances. Which was the scent that stole my heart and made the biggest impression? Easy: their newest fragrance for men, Eau des Baux; a blend of cypresswood and incense with hints of cardamom and coumarin.

Eau des Baux opens with an ambery blast that immediately reminds me of Nina Ricci Memoire pour Homme and L’Artisan Tea for Two…

Perfume in the news: copyrights & the scent of Richmond

In contrast to a ruling in the Netherlands last week which determined that perfumes are protected by copyright laws, a French high court has determined that the "recipe of ingredients that make up a perfume cannot be protected by copyright". Richmond, Virginia has its own local version of Bond no. 9: local perfumer Amy George has created a series of perfumes celebrating Richmond landmarks. The fragrances include Libby Hill, Maymont and Byrd Theater. Read more in richmond.com (link no longer working, sorry!), or check out her store at etsy.

Agent Provocateur Eau de Parfum fragrance Agent Provocateur Eau Emotionnelle fragrance

The UK-based lingerie line Agent Provocateur released their first fragrance, called simply Agent Provocateur, in 2000. The “exotic floral chypre” was created by perfumer Christian Provenzano, and includes notes of saffron, coriander, rose, jasmine, magnolia, ylang ylang, gardenia, vetiver, amber and musk.

There are fragrances that are sexy in a non-obtrusive kind of way, and then there are fragrances that are sexy in an in-your-face kind of way. Agent Provocateur is in-your-face sexy. It smells, quite simply, like a fragrance that you would wear to seduce someone, which is, after all, the raison d’être of the Agent Provocateur brand…

Montana Mood trio & Agent Provocateur Maitresse ~ new fragrances

Montana Mood Sensual fragranceMontana has launched a new trio of fragrances called Montana Mood. Montana Mood Sensual (shown) has notes of pink pepper, cyclamen, orchid, heliotrope, musk and vanilla. Montana Mood Sexy has notes of wild freesia, mignonette, peony, leather and patchouli; Montana Mood Soft features iris, almond blossom, bergamot, mandarin, amber and vanilla.

The trio is available now in France. (via cosma-parfumeries) All three fragrances are sold in 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Agent Provocateur will introduce Maîtresse in late August…
