Posted by Robin on 6 October 2006 19 Comments

Bond no. 9 West Side fragranceWest Side, the latest perfume for women from Bond no. 9, will launch on November 1. The inspiration? The musical heritage of the West Side of New York City, “home to Carnegie Hall, Tin Pan Alley, the Cotton Club, the Copacobana, Birdland, Lincoln Center, Studio 54, and S.O.B.’s”. West Side was created by perfumer Michel Almairac of Robertet, and features rose, ylang ylang, peony, sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla. (via Bond no. 9)

Blue Agava & Cacao by Jo Malone ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 October 2006 6 Comments

Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao fragranceJo Malone has launched Blue Agava & Cacao, a fragrance for women “inspired by the rhythm and vibrancy of Latin music”:

The Blue Agava & Cacao juice — described as “effortlessly modern” — opens on notes of lime oil, grapefruit, birgaradia, cardamom and red berry. The heart is built around the agava flower, complemented by sea salt, orchid, geranium and white lily. The base is a blend of chypre…

It isn’t my favorite category so it doesn’t exactly strike joy in my heart, but if it is yours, I don’t think you have anything to worry about for the near future…

Iris Nobile Eau de Parfum by Acqua di Parma: fragrance review

Posted by Robin on 4 October 2006 33 Comments

Iris Nobile Eau de Parfum by Acqua di Parma

Acqua di Parma launched Iris Nobile in 2004, and the original version, in Eau de Toilette concentration, is one of my favorite summer perfumes, a beautiful blend of iris and orange blossom with just a hint of anise. This year, Acqua di Parma follows up with an Eau de Parfum version that puts a chypre twist on the original formula. Notes include bergamot, tangerine, iris, star anise, ylang ylang, oakmoss, vanilla, amber crystals and patchouli.

As you would expect, the Eau de Parfum is a denser, richer fragrance than the Eau de Toilette…
