L'Occitane has launched Ruban d'Orange, a new fragrance with notes of Calabrian lemon, mandarin and sweet orange of Sicily, bitter orange of Seville, green fig, vetiver, tonka bean and cedar.
Ruban d'Orange is available in Eau de Toilette, shower gel with pulp concentrate, skin milk, soap and body scrub. (via aufeminin, beaute-addict & l'occitane)

L’Artisan launched Méchant Loup in 1997. Like yesterday’s Dzongkha, it was created by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour; it is usually described as a “deep, spicy, woodsy scent” and the notes include pepper, star anise, licorice, sandalwood, honey, hazelnut, myrrh, tonka bean and cedar.
The L’Artisan website translates “Méchant Loup” as Big Bad Wolf, and it is very nearly just that. It has a kind of roasted hazelnut and burnt sugar accord that is vaguely reminiscent of Hermès Vetiver Tonka, but Méchant Loup is darker and richer, and the hazelnut mingles with honeyed woods, musty dried leaves and a touch of something that smells like whiskey and cigar smoke and old leather chairs…

I think what enraged me, apart from the musical effluence, was the comment on the press release that claimed Ronan was qualified to make a fragrance because “he knows what he likes”. Well, I know what I like fashion-wise, but that doesn’t make me Nicolas Ghesquière. I know what I like in perfume, but I am not Christopher Sheldrake or Francis Kurkdjian (genius noses both).
