Fragrance shopping: Guerlain & Fifi Chachnil

The Guerlain boutique at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City will have its Grand Opening from February 7 through the 11th. As of yesterday, there were a few bottles remaining of La Violette de Madame (100 ml of Eau de Toilette), Plus que Jamais (Eau de Parfum, 60 ml, signed by Jean-Paul Guerlain) and Cherry Blossom. They also have the three L'Art et la Matiere fragrances (Rose Barbare, Angelique Noire and Cuir Beluga). Vega is coming in March. You can place an order with Jason at (212) 872-2734. Perfume in the news: squirrels & Sean John Combs

Odors trigger memories in squirrels and Sean Combs aka P Diddy aka Puff Daddy launched his new fragrance, Unforgivable, last night. There is probably a cosmic relationship between those two facts, but I don't know what it is.

And for those of you who are not yet ready to pack away your winter perfumes, no worries, the groundhog saw his shadow.

New fragrances from Voluspa & Revlon

Coming from Voluspa: Josephine, with pressed rose petals, sandalwood, Italian lime and orchids; and Fragaria with strawberry, vanilla bean, tuberose stalk, and dianthus. The fragrances are $28 for 100 ml of Eau de Parfum, and are available for pre-order at b-glowing.

Revlon has announced that they are planning to re-enter the prestige fragrance market, and will launch a new perfume in department stores by this summer. (via perfume2000)

To say that Mandy Aftel took the world of natural perfumery by storm is hardly an overstatement. Little over a decade ago, while doing research for a novel, she found herself immersed in a collection of ancient perfume books. It was the start of a lifelong passion for natural essences: she put her literary ambitions on hold, and eventually established her very own perfume studio. Her current business, Aftelier, is a flourishing operation based in Berkeley, California.
