Perfume review: Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey

Posted by Robin on 8 February 2006 58 Comments

Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey fragrance

Nectarine Blossom & Honey is the latest fragrance release from Jo Malone, who established her line of perfumes in London in 1994. She remained with the brand as Creative Director even after it was sold to Estee Lauder in 1999, but has recently announced that she is moving on to pursue other goals. There are no plans to discontinue the line, but unless another fragrance was already in the works under her guidance, Nectarine Blossom & Honey, which was released in the UK last year and is only recently available in the US, may be the last real “Jo Malone” fragrance we see…

Perfume news: lawsuits, scented MP3 players & more

Posted by Robin on 8 February 2006 7 Comments

Remember the radio host who says she was sickened by a colleague's perfume and then fired unjustly when she complained? She was originally awarded 10.6 million dollars in a federal lawsuit. Then a judge knocked that back to $814,000. Now, that same judge has increased the award to $1.2 million (link to article no longer working, sorry!) in damages plus $423,807 for legal costs.

And in a related story from Connecticut (link no longer working, sorry!), a woman with “multiple chemical sensitivity disorder” is suing city officials who she says have failed to address her co-workers use of fragrance products…

New scented candles from Trapp, Thymes Limited & Illume

Posted by Robin on 8 February 2006 10 Comments

The “Gardens of the World Collection” is new from Trapp candles, and includes fragrances like Ireland, with green grass, fern, clover, jasmin and hawthorn; and Russia, with fir, cinnamon, rose, eucalyptus, sage, rosemary, woods and vanilla. Available at scentsandsprays for $25 for a 7 oz candle. I wish those lovely patterns on the boxes were on the candles themselves. I was also taken with the chocolate candle collection from Thymes Limited, which includes Au Chocolat Latte and Au Chocolat Mandarin.

And a great idea for Valentine's Day from the same retailer…

No perfume review. Again.

Posted by Robin on 7 February 2006 41 Comments

I am still working on programming issues on Now Smell This. Most of what I am doing is time consuming but invisible, however, I have made a few changes to the appearance of the comments section (please tell me if it is an improvement?) and I have split the Noses page in two and added lots of new perfumes to the lists.

I hope to be back with a fragrance review tomorrow, but I wouldn't swear to it. As it happens, tomorrow is also this site's first birthday. Have a nice slice of chocolate cake for me — or better yet, spritz on your favorite dessert perfume.

Coming soon: reviews of Annick Goutal Songes, Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey & Fico di Amalfi by Blu Mediterraneo.

Note: the ad for Deneuve is from couleurparfum.
