Yves Saint Laurent Cinema Eau de ToiletteYves Saint Laurent has released a new Eau de Toilette version of Cinema. The juice has been reworked; the notes are clementine, cyclamen, mimosa, white peony, jasmine, amaryllis, amber, white musk and Bourbon vanilla. (via absolufeminin & osmoz)

Paul Smith London for men

The man famous for the stripes is back with his third men’s fragrance. 2004’s Paul Smith London for men, by perfumer Antoine Lie, is an exciting and boozey mélange of sparkling green mandarin, violet flowers, shots of frosted mint, jasmine, lavender, vintage brandy accord, vetyver, Australian sandalwood, tonka beans, and amber.

Similar to both Armani’s Black Code and Lolita Lempicka’s Au Masculin, London stays in keeping with a theme popular among new fragrances recently — a velvety gourmand note in the base. My opinion: this is perhaps the best of the bunch…

L’Oreal wins case against copycat perfumes…

In a case that may have far-reaching implications for the perfume industry, L'Oreal has won a lawsuit against a company that copied the "olfactory architecture" of its fragrances:

A scent is a work of art just like a painting or a symphony, a French court has ruled in a case seen as a major victory in the battle against copycat fragrances.

After decades of failed attempts to copyright a particular perfume, cosmetics giant L'Oreal finally persuaded the court that its perfumes were entitled to the French droits d'auteur (authorial rights) that protect their creators from imitation for 70 years.
