Citta di Kyoto perfume by Santa Maria Novella

Città di Kyoto is the most recent of Santa Maria Novella’s fragrances. It was released in 2005 to mark the fortieth anniversary of the sister-city link between Florence and Kyoto. The notes include iris for Florence and lotus for Kyoto; other notes include bergamot, orange, jasmine, hyacinth, rose, hawthorn, ylang-ylang, plum, peach, cinnamon, cypress, lavender, birch, sandalwood, gaiac wood, cedar, ebony, patchouli, ambergris and vanilla.

The citrus in the opening of Città di Kyoto is very soft and mild, and layered over prominent notes of hawthorn and iris…

TJ Maxx report for June

My local TJ Maxx was surprisingly well-stocked yesterday, and had a number of new releases including this year's Escada, Maria Sharapova and Clarins Par Amour Toujours. Also spotted: Jean Patou Enjoy, Calvin Klein Eternity Purple Orchid, Cacharel Promesse, Amor Amor & Noa Fleur, Donald Trump, Bvlgari Blv, Davidoff Cool Water Woman, J Lo Glow & Miami Glow and Lancaster Aquasun. Hiding in the bath & body section were candles by Molton Brown and Pecksniff's body lotions. Not a bad selection, but sadly I didn't see Guerlain Anisia Bella, which is reportedly now at Marshalls for $9.99.

Perles de Lalique now available in France

Perles de Lalique fragrancePerles de Lalique is now available at sephora.fr and marionnaud.fr, and here is a picture of the bottle for the Eau de Toilette, which comes in 50 or 100 ml.

Last month I caused some confusion by posting a picture of the bottle which inspired the design; as you can see, this one is quite different. Apparently the bottle for the new Perles de Lalique extrait (parfum) is closer to the old cactus bottle, but I haven't seen a picture of it online and it isn't in stock yet at either of the stores listed above.

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Sanguine Muskissime

Sanguine Muskissime was one of Maître Parfumeur et Gantier’s original fragrance offerings when the line was established in 1988. It is composed of bergamot, mandarin, peach, blood orange, grapefruit, lemon, jasmine, musk and sandalwood.

I first tried Sanguine Muskissime several years ago, and was not overly fond of it. A sample recently came my way again and I thought I would give it another go. For a few minutes, I thought it might work for me this time…
