Wickle Chestnut & Vetiver fragranceWickle is a gift & toiletries company founded in the UK in 2004 by illustrator Scott Wotherspoon and cosmetics expert Elisabeth Henrikse. Chestnut & Vetiver is one of the line's four fragrances (the others are Muskmallow, Periwinkle and Scented Tea Leaf) and features notes of toasted chestnut, woods, warm amber, musk and vetiver.

The idea of toasted nuts over earthy vetiver immediately called to mind Hermès Vetiver Tonka, but they are nothing alike. Chestnut & Vetiver is a simpler and fresher fragrance, without the deep rich notes of the Hermès…

Isabella Rossellini Storia fragranceIsabella Rossellini has released Storia, her newest fragrance in conjunction with Coty. Storia features notes of mandarin, white pepper, Japanese quince blossom, musk, vanilla and patchouli, and is available in Eau de Parfum and matching body products. (text source: cosmetitext.nl)

Christiane Celle's Calypso line has launched Figue, an Eau de Toilette with notes of blackcurrant, fig leaf, jasmin, fig milk, heliotrope, patchouli and sandalwood. (via beautysak)

Yves Saint Laurent M7 fragrance for men

Today Marlen and I are debating the merits of M7, the fragrance launched by Yves Saint Laurent in 2002. It was the line’s seventh fragrance for men, and the first under the creative direction of designer Tom Ford. M7 was created by perfumers Jacques Cavallier and Alberto Morillas, and includes notes of agarwood, Haitian vetiver, bergamot, mandarin, rosemary, amber and musk.

He says: I first tested M7 on a warm spring day in Kyoto and immediately thought, “Well this isn’t the best time of year to launch this.” The scent was heavy and rich, masculine and earthy. The most prominent feature was the centerpiece of vetiver…

Ottawa considers ban on perfume and scented products

In response to concerns about the health problems caused by fragrances, the city council of Ottawa is considering a ban on the use of perfume and other scented products in city-owned facilities:

Under the proposal made by a citizens' committee on the environment, a public education program aimed at getting people to voluntarily stop using the scents would be followed by a mandatory ban in all city buildings, on transit, and at sports and community centres…
