The Comme des Garcons Pearly Monster and new fragrances from Profumum

Posted by Robin on 6 December 2006 12 Comments

Comme des Garcons Pearly Monster fragranceLuckyscent now has Pearly Monster, a holiday limited edition from Comme des Garçons. The bottle "...is the Comme des Garcons 'White' fragrance housed in a black jersey glove adorned with shiny black beads and pearls". Notes include spices, lily of the valley, may rose, pomegranate, vanilla, cedarwood, amber.

Also new at Luckyscent, three oops, four! more scents from Profumum:

Dulcis in Fundo, "dessert at its irresistible best", with notes of citrus fruits and Mexican vanilla.

Confetto, an "absolutely gorgeous rendition of almond" with notes of sugared almond, amber, musk and anise.

Soavissima, "powdery white flowers with a rose-like air melt seamlessly into powdery amber and are enhanced with … well, more powder." Notes include powdery notes, white flowers and amber.

And thanks to Judith for pointing out the one I missed, Fumidus for men, "Deep and magnetic and commanding" with notes of Essence of distilled scotch, vetiver root and birch bark.

I can't go for the bottle! To me it screams Cousin It goes Rastafarian! I have this thing, if the product doesn't smell good I won't buy it (even if it makes me rich and skinny), and if the bottle isn't pretty I won't buy it. I saw the monster that is Betsey Johnson and there's no way I can call that Mardi Gras plastic bead + Hispanic church candle thingy my own.

I agree on the bottle-fragrance connection.

Usually I don´t like it if I don´t like the bottle (or at least STAND TO LOOK AT the bottle).

One example could be all the Versace Jeans bottles.

I didn´t like fragrances OR bottles.

This beads…mmm I think I could warm to it a little but the result of that combo of notes is pretty enigmatic.

Have to agree on Betsey Johnson. I was hoping it would be fun-kitsch, which I can go for, but in person it was just tacky.

CdG White is great stuff, keep meaning to review it & hopefully will get around to it soon. Of course, you can buy it in the regular bottle much cheaper, so no need to go for the beads unless you love them.

Fragrance bottles are part of the appeal! What is this thing that CdG created? Weird….. I too am a fan of nice unique bottles I'm sort of *tolerating* Euphoria. Like the juice, the bottle itself is bothersome..

As for Betsy Johnson, that bottle screams “Betsy Johnson!!!!”. It so her.

I need to covet some samples of CdG. I haven't smelled any of their fragrances!

On the BJ…totally agree, it is “so her”, but I thought the top was just so cheaply done. The picture looked fun, in person it looked like something that would break in a few weeks, or like a Barbie fragrance or something. The top looks like they spent about $2 on it. Ok, excuse my rant, LOL…

But do try some CdGs, they are weird but brilliant!

LS also has a new Profumum men's fragrance, Fumidus, which sound the best of all to me!

Thanks J, I missed that one entirely and have just added it. It does sound like the best of the 4.

I am really tempted by this… so gothic, so quirky.

    🙂

It is cute — they always do cute limited editions which I'm too cheap to pay for 🙂
