Perfume news: Sarah Jessica Parker & Evelyn Lauder

Posted by Robin on 13 January 2006 Leave a Comment

A snippet from a recent interview with Sarah Jessica Parker:

Is the fragrance, Lovely, your own personal potion brought to the masses? Parker mixed her own scents for years. "(Lovely) still has a little of the musk and lavender notes I had been using, but there's more floral and a little patchouli. It's a little more feminine. I'm really happy with it." (via Charlotte Observer, link to article no longer working, sorry!)

The Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award at the 34th annual FiFi Awards, scheduled for April 3, will go to Evelyn H. Lauder. (via Women's Wear Daily).

Let's start with a brief overview. The first two chapters of the book cover the historical backgrounds of perfumery. Through epigrams and biblical references, Sagarin illustrates the relationship between sacred rituals and the use of fragrant oils in Ancient times. From the third chapter onwards, the focus shifts to manufacturing techniques…

Comme des Garcons series 4: Cologne

Comme des Garcons cologne series

Comme des Garçons released Series 4: Cologne in 2002. Each of the three fragrances is a variation on the classic citrus-based cologne theme.

Anbar is the Arabic word for amber, and the fragrance has notes of amber, mandarin, orange blossom, lavender, clove and musk. It starts with bright citrus notes, and settles quickly into a mild blend with a whisper of dry orange blossom over pale amber undertones. It has a touch of spice, but overall, it is more bright than dark. The lasting power is fine considering the strength, and it is nicely done, but for the moment I am not captivated so I am setting my sample aside for another try in the summer…
