In the summer, I never fail to buy a bouquet of tuberose at the local farmer’s market anticipating the beautiful creamy scent filling the room just as the dusk begins to descend. The Rodolfo candle by Tocca does not have the mineral intensity of tuberose, nor its warm skin aspect, however its opulent sweetness is stunning. The fireworks of white flowers lead to the rainfall of petals that would have been heady were it not for the soft greenness. Like the raspberry jam filling in Sachertorte, the subtle verdant touch lightens the luxurious heaviness of tuberose. Indeed, I wish that Rodolfo were made in the perfume form, or at least in the roomspray.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Rodolfo is my favourite tuberose candle, and its luscious fragrance and excellent lasting power are superior to Diptyque Tubereuse. Its aroma is very relaxing and romantic, and I alternate it with Red Flower Indian Jasmine as a candle to burn in the evening after a long stressful day.

Tocca candles emit hardly any smoke or soot, and the scents are very long lasting, which is an important criterion for a good quality candle. Their white glass packaging is elegantly understated, and the range of scents is excellent, from sugar cane and rum (Havana) to cucumber and grapefruit (Cleopatra).
