Blogger loses electricity for 17 hours…

We had a bad storm here last night, and our electricity has just now been restored. It is too late in the day for me to pull a decent post together. At the moment, I am just happy to have air conditioning and internet access again.

Eau d'Italie fragrance

Eau d’Italie is the debut fragrance release from the Eau d’Italie brand, the brainchild of the Sersale family, owners of the Positano hotel Le Sirenuse. Eau d’Italie was created by nose Bertrand Duchaufour, and the notes include citrus, magnolia, musk, incense, cedar, honey, and blackcurrant.

Eau d’Italie opens with bergamot and other citrus notes. There is light honeyed cedar, and hints of resins and incense. The floral notes are extremely subtle, as is the blackcurrant…

Luca Turin has launched a new perfume blog, Perfume Notes. He explains…

Just over two years ago, the Swiss magazine NZZ Folio asked me to write a monthly 400-word column on perfume. I write it in English, and Berlin-based translator Robin Cackett turns it (brilliantly, they tell me) into German. I thought it would be fun to publish the originals in a blog. They will be updated at the same time as the Folio article, i.e. on the 6th of each month…

Madonna plans to launch her first perfume this coming November, to coincide with the release of her next album, Defying Gravity. (via Irish Examiner, link no longer working sorry!) Update: and no, it didn't happen! Rumors of a Madonna scent seem to crop up regularly.
