I am very pleased to announce that Victoria, of the popular perfume blog Bois de Jasmin, will be joining me as a regular contributor on the home fragrance front. Look for her first article tomorrow, and expect to see new articles several times a month.

The new tuberose fragrance from Frederic Malle will not, as reported yesterday, be called Karnal Flower, but rather Carnal Flower (an improvement, no?), and it will have notes of tuberose, orange blossom, coconut, and camphor. The nose is Dominique Ropion, and it is due to be launched in France in September. Many thanks to Victoria of Bois de Jasmin for the correction.
Parfums de Couleurs is the newest line from Histoires de Parfums. According to their website, the trio “plays with classical perfume notes”, and I recently gave them a try:
Noir Patchouli has notes of patchouli, coriander, cardamom, floral bouquet, juniper berry, black pepper, musk, vetiver, moss, leather and vanilla. This starts out as a heady mix of patchouli and spices, but settles quickly into a dry, earthy fragrance with lots of vetiver and moss and a dash of vanilla. The leather, which starts out very light, intensifies considerably as it dries down.
I don’t like patchouli and I am not overly fond of leather, but I rather like Noir Patchouli…
The movie version of Patrick Suskind's Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is now under production, and is scheduled for release in September 2006.
