Sean John Unforgivable fragrance

As previously reported, Sean John Fragrances will debut Unforgivable for men in Saks this December. The fragrance was developed by Estee Lauder’s MAC division.

The notes are Sicilian lemon, Italian bergamot, Moroccan tangerine, grapefruit, juniper, sparkling champagne accord, Mediterranean air accord, Tuscan basil, Florentine iris, clary sage, lavender, cashmere accord, cool sea moss, Australian sandalwood, amber and tonka bean…

Brit Gold, the latest fragrance release from Burberry, was created by nose Antoine Lie and features magnolia, neroli, black currant, ultrafresh bergamot, pink iris, amber, vanilla, musk, and sandalwood. When I first tried the fragrance, it was a sniff of a tester in a department store. At that time, the only impression it made was “sweet vanilla”. I then tried a sample vial and had this to say:

Warm, powdery, amber-ish. It definitely reminds me of the current crop of powdery oriental fragrances like Flower Le Parfum, Kenzo Summer, i Profumi de Firenze Talco Delicato, Ormonde Jayne Tolu, Lea, etc. and really not that original…

Eskandar Black Tea & Lemon Body Wash

I have problems with the majority of the black tea fragrances on the market. Some of them, like Comme des Garcons Te and Speziali Fiorentini Te Nero, smell disconcertingly tarry, rubbery, or even incense-like. Perhaps they are supposed to render Lapsang Souchong in its full strength, and not the meek Earl Grey and English Breakfast teas I am used to. Others, like L'Artisan Tea for Two, have a strange cocoa-butter note; still others are too light and airy, or too floral. Even my reigning favorite, Elizabeth W. Sweet Tea, isn’t so much an accurate rendition of tea as much as it is a sweet sugary lemon and almond concoction with the barest hint of tea…
