And in case you need something new to worry about today…

Posted by Robin on 12 February 2005 3 Comments

It has long been reported that the widespread use of synthetic musks in cosmetic and fragrance formulas poses some risk to the environment. Now, researchers at Stanford University suggest that

…long-term exposure to these synthetic musks could result in tissue concentrations high enough to impair natural cellular defenses in humans…

I can't bear to think about it any more, but if you must…

For Serge Lutens fans…

Posted by Robin on 11 February 2005 2 Comments

Serge Lutens Miel de Bois is not due to launch officially until March, but if you just can't wait, the theperfumeshoppe in Canada has bottles already on sale. Senteurs D'Ailleurs in Brussels also has it in stock. If you want to try before you buy, you can get a sample vial through the sample program at Aedes, although they won't sell the bottles until March. For those of you lucky enough to be in Paris, you can buy from the Salons du Palais Royal starting this coming Tuesday. Update: see a review of Serge Lutens Miel de Bois.

Thanks to Bela for the scoop! To see the notes for Miel de Bois, or any other Serge Lutens fragrance, check out her wonderful page Serge Lutens - Nearly All The Facts.

I have no idea what a structure around a sphere means; if you know, do tell! Update: additional notes include vanilla, cinnamon, peony and orange blossom…

Strange perfume news

Posted by Robin on 11 February 2005 Leave a Comment

Yahoo News reports that parts of I-95 in Florida were shut down Wednesday after a fire broke out on a rig carrying 55-gallon drums of perfume. 55 GALLON DRUMS? I would love to know what kind of perfume that was. Read the story here (link no longer working).
