New fragrance: Eau d’Italie

Posted by Robin on 9 March 2005 4 Comments

The Sersale family, owners of the Positano hotel Le Sirenuse, wanted to create a fragrance that would evoke the aromas of the Amalfi coast. The result, which was created by Bertrand Duchaufour (the nose behind Comme des Garcons Calamus and the Sherbet series, among others), was Eau d'Italie, which features notes of citrus, magnolia, musk, incense, honey, and blackcurrant. According to the London Independent (3/5), it is…

New at Aedes: Mizensir candles

Posted by Robin on 9 March 2005 5 Comments

Aedes now has 11 candles by Mizensir, a line created by Alberto Morillas, the nose behind fragrances such as Kenzo Flower, Thierry Mugler Cologne, and Armani Sensi. My pick: Cypres de Toscane, described as a "mediterranean blend with essences of cypress and incense". Please comment if you've tried any of these!

And on a side note, a report yesterday in Business Wire (link no longer working, sorry) says that "the typical consumer spends $266 per year on home fragrance products". Wow, I really haven't been doing my share.

Diptyque Essence of John Galliano Room Spray

Today I am wearing the matching room spray, and I have to say I’m considerably more captivated. According to Diptyque, the “subtle, woody scent is reminiscent of smouldering birch wood embers tinted with hints of iris and vanilla musk.” It is also said to have notes of leather, moss and myrrh…
