Perfume of the day: L’Artisan Jacinthe des Bois

L'Artisan Jacinthe des Bois fragrance

Jacinthe des Bois was released in 2000 as part of L’Artisan’s Je T’ai Cueilli Une Fleur trio, which also included Verte Violette and Oeillet Sauvage. All three fragrances were created by Anne Flipo, who was also the nose behind the popular La Chasse aux Papillons. In place of the standard L’Artisan packaging, the trio featured bottles decorated with a trellis design, with silk flowers attached to the neck.

The notes for Jacinthe are tulip, galbanum, sap, broom, narcissus, beeswax, hay, and maté. It starts out pretty much a dead ringer for fresh hyacinths…

New candles from Sundari

Sundari, known for their ayurvedic skin & body care products, has introduced 3 candles:

Chameli, a mix of jasmine, lotus flower, lemongrass and cinnamon; Gulkand, which consists of fresh rose petals, honey, sugar and milk, and Amrus, which features mango and fresh basil.

I want the Chameli! The candles will retail for $34 and will be available at Fred Segal in Los Angeles and Jeffrey NY. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Montale Patchouli Leaves fragrance review

Montale Patchouli Leaves fragrance

Montale is a Paris-based perfumer with two lines: an oudh line based on the precious oudh (or agar) wood frequently used in Middle Eastern fragrances, and a regular perfume line. That is the extent of what I have been able to learn about Montale — if you know more, please comment! Montale’s description of Patchouli Leaves is as follows:

Beautiful Patchouli leaves macerated for two years in the trunk of the oak tree combine with vanilla, amber and white musk on a base of Cystus ladaniferus from Tibet.

Cistus ladaniferus is the variety of rockrose commonly used to make labdanum…
