The end of magazine scent strips?

Posted by Robin on 23 December 2005 7 Comments

Imagin is a new kind of single-use atomizer designed to allow consumers to test perfumes on skin. It is flat, so can be used in magazines in place of the dreaded scent strip:

Once the package is opened, air enters, allowing the consumer to squeeze the Imagin sample to emit a mist of fragrance.

Unfortunately, Estée Lauder has a one year exclusive on the new technology, so looks like we'll have to endure scent strips a little while longer. I detest scent strips, and fervently hope that this technology catches on. (via beautypackaging)

Do you remember for a while magazines put in sound-making gizmos? I remember one time trying to kill a magazine I was reading because it kept playing Jingle Bells in a horrifically tinny way and it wouldn't stop. No, I'm not on drugs. Nor was I.

Sounds like an improvement. The paper strips are the worst. But the foil sealed little packets are good. The need more of those.

Happy holidays to you my dear!

Ooh, this sounds very interesting! I look forward to trying out this gizmo, if/when I ever encounter it.

I really like the new foil peel off strips with a tiny cloth inside soaked with the scent – very convenient to use!

L, I missed those entirely! My son one of those horrible gizmos — a snowman sitting at a piano, and it plays snippets of 3 Christmas songs. I want to kill it too.

I haven't seen them yet, but anything is an improvement on scent strips.

    Happy holidays to you, V!

B, same here. Rather have a sample vial, of course, but this could be a reasonable substitute.
