Perfume news: Dolce & Gabbana, Coty & more

Posted by Robin on 15 December 2005 3 Comments

Dolce & Gabbana have signed a partnership with Procter & Gamble. Look for 3 new fragrances from the line over the next two years. (via International Herald Tribune)

The online site for Coty's Ex'clama'tion fragrance allows visitors to...

...create the "perfect bloke" by choosing his face, body, hairstyle and clothes. Users can then specify character traits, name him and submit their "Mr Right" into a competition to win a mini-iPod. Girls can also email their creations to friends. (via revolution)

The New York Times has an interesting article about custom cosmetics and fragrances, including snippets on Miller Harris and Scent Systems.

OMG, I haven't smelled Exclamation in years and years. And just reading that I can conjur up it's sweet powdery scent… Hmmm, given the low price, I should ask for it as a stocking stuffer. I used to love it, and wonder what I'd think of it now that I'm grown.

I'm finding the make a perfect bloke thingie kind of creepy. Although I suppose it's just a modern day version of the “Mystery Date” game – anyone else remember that one?

K, have never smelled Exclamation! I found the make your date thing creepy too, but then, I didn't go to the site to check it out. Of course, if I could click a few buttons & redo the husband, that would be convenient…on the other hand, I'm sure he would redo me past recognition.
