Perfume news: the Clive Christian Artwork Edition, on anosmia & more

Posted by Robin on 10 November 2005 2 Comments

Clive Christian will release a limited edition bottle of fragrance No. 1, called the Artwork Edition. 1000 bottles will be produced at the price of 550 euros. Next month, the Imperial Majesty edition (mentioned in July) will be released. The brand also plans a new perfume in 2007. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Thanks to Ellie for passing on this article about living with anosmia, or the inability to smell, from The Washington Post. Consider this:

It's as if my tongue and nose can sense differences -- water tastes different from juice, say, and unscented air smells different from perfume -- but the differences are faint and forgettable, and I have no ability to identify them. Chocolate is strawberry is scrambled eggs.

MTV has more information on a possible fragrance release from Marilyn Manson: sounds like it is a definite maybe. (link no longer working, sorry!)

Eighth-graders at Pollard Middle School in Needham, Massachusetts have been writing protest letters to Armani asking them to cease using the fragrance name Black Code because of its racist connotations.

I dated Marc Andreessen the man who created the computer progrma Mosaic, which lead to the creation of Netscape Navigator. In the beginning of our relationship I asked him if he liked the perfume I was wearing and he said, “You could rub garbage all over your body and I wouldn't know the difference.” He was born without a sense of smell! When you can't smell you can't really taste either. It's like when you have a terrible cold and you can't smell or taste anything. Marc is a very rich man, but money can't fix everything. I think it's so sad. Smell and taste are my favorite senses.

LOL at “you could rub garbage all over your body” — I guess that takes care of that. Anosmia is one of my worst fears.
