More information on the upcoming men's fragrance from Lacoste, Essential, which will launch this August:
...top notes of tomato leaves, plus citrus, fruity and watery notes. The scent's heart is made of black pepper and a floral accord, including rose notes, inspired — according to Lacoste executives — by the fact that men don't hesitate to sport the brand's polo shirts in traditionally feminine colors, like pink. Sandalwood and patchouli notes are in the fragrance's drydown. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Although I dislike-on-principle things sold on a celebrity's image, I'm intrigued by this. It might actually be quite nice! (And I like the bottle!)

N, I will give it a try, but I'm afraid she may have lost me on the “apple martini”. I have yet to meet an apple fragrance I like. But I do love the ad, it is girly but classic looking, unlike the Paris Hilton ads, which just look trashy.
Oh, how boring! I am not sure what I expected, but not another Estee Lauder style bottle. Minimalist was unusual in 1990s, but now it is just boring. Thanks for a great update!

Is that SJP or a model? From the tiny picture, it doesn't look like SJP. Why wouldn't she model for her own scent? She's got the body.
Interesting that they chose an ultra romantic ad. Her “SITC” show was breakout and edgy. That's what I associate with SJP. I wonder if the romantic strategy will work.

R, are you disgusted with the ad, or the scent? I think the ad is pretty. The scent doesn't sound appealing to me though.
Disgusted may be too strong of a word. But these celebrity fragrances are really starting to get on my nerves. There seems to be a launch every other day!
Yeah, the ad is pretty, and maybe the fragrance is, too. I have not tested it yet. But it just looks so boring! :(:(

Not so fast, girlfriend. I can shamelessly admit that I love Madonna! I'm not crazy about this whole kaballah (sp.?) thing, and I do think that she has become a bit 'soft' (I miss the 'fun' Madonna from the 80's through the mid-90's! lol!).
But I know that she has good taste in fragrance and loves it as much as we do, so I will be more than curious to see what she has to offer.

Despite my aversion to celeb-scents, I will make an effort to find this one. Not buy it, necessarily, but at least try it.
I've liked SJP since “Sqare Pegs” (and Annie) because of her quirky attractiveness, but I will try the scent only because of the “patchouli factor”.

Whoa, patchouli AND chocolate – 2 of my favorite things in life! I just have to get my hands on this. I love how LT describes this scent and compares/contrasts it with Angel. Borneo 1834 is on my “Wish List”.

Funny: I never put SJP and Lacoste together. She's so not preppy in my mind. I'm also still trying to wrap my brain around the “rose = pink shirts for men” concept. Far out! I'm going to buy it because I've waited for this launch forever.

I have to admit that my fascination with Lovely let me do drive (with our Annie) an hour and a half, to the nearest Nordstrom, when I heard that the fragrance was on the counters at that store chain. It was love at first sniff for me. I don't get any heavy patchouli at all in it, and as for the musk, little or none on me. And that is rare, because my particular skin chemistry tends to amplify any musk notes. It is, to me, what people describe as a 'clean' fragrance, and that term and it's meaning has eluded me until now. The bottle is beautiful to hold and to behold. I caved!
I got a sample yesterday P, but didn't really smell it yet. The notes don't much appeal to me — lots of things in there that I really dislike — but will give it a try. At my local Nordstrom it was the big display item.
