New & upcoming fragrances

Posted by Robin on 20 June 2005 6 Comments

The latest fragrance from Creed, Original Santal, will debut in July. Read more on the Creed website.

Thanks to Micki for the news that MAC is planning to re-release the perfumes MAC MV1, MV2, MV3, MV4, and MV5 this August. I think the first 3 have been sold out for some time, but as far as I know MV4 & MV5 are currently available in stores, along with their newest fragrances, Violetrix and Turquatic.

Thanks for this info. I've been curious about the MAC scents, but was never able to find them. I wonder if these scents be available at their dept store counters, or just at the free-standing MAC stores.

I didn't get a chance to comment on the ads, and I see you took that thread off the blog, but they are just fine with me. They're unobtrusive and keep with the informational tone of your writing. I know how much time I spend composing a 3 paragraph email to friends – sometimes upwards of 1/2 hour – and they're just about nonsense! I can only imagine how much time and effort you pour into NST. You deserve to be compensated for this wonderful blog!

K, I have noticed at several MAC counters that they keep the fragrances behind the counter, so it is worth asking. I think they just don't have room with all that eyeshadow 🙂

Took Saturday's post down because after reading the TOS more carefully, it occurred to me that I might be construed as “calling attention to the ads”, which you are not allowed to do. Don't want to get kicked out before I get started!

I'm a little confused as to why a “totally new take” has been entitled “Original”, but curious as to how this will compare to their current lackluster sandalwood offering, Santal Imperial.

K, I have no earthly idea. Their new Vetiver scent was also called “Original”, even though they have an older Vetiver fragrance.

I just reread my post and realized how vastly lacking in English language skills it makes me sound. I see what they are doing now. By “original”, they are implying that this fragrance is an unusual new approach to sandalwood. I jumped to the conclusion that they were rereleasing their very first sandalwood fragrance from however many centuries ago created for whatever famous person. I'm totally over Creed.

    K, I didn't think so at all!

“Original” implies to me an older formula too, to distinguish from something new. I think it is a strange marketing tactic, and liable to confuse consumers looking to repurchase a scent they have been wearing for years.
